When my best friend's brother finally moved out of their parent's house, they found magazines with naked greased men. That was their first hint... although I'd known almost 8 years earlier. The family went to 'counseling' and my friend was surprised that it was to teach THEM how to deal with HIS orientation.

It's still listed as 'deviant sexual behavior' in a lot of the psych books and most state laws, but alt friendly counselors DO exist and can explain to the family that it's merely a different set of orientations.

I'm sorry to hear that this happened. It's very sad and awkward for everyone involved because those who don't feel the same impulses have no basis from where to begin even trying to understand it. There's a real reason why these fantasies are kept as our deepest, darkest secrets -- we all learn to hide our true desires at a very early age. That's because we have to.

Be honest with them and be open about what this is and what this isn't. You understand their fear so you can talk to them on that level.... that's the same fear we all have had to face wondering about ourselves, too. As in.... "What does this say about me?" "What am I capable of doing to someone?" "Where does one draw that line?" "How do I really know when/where to stop?" And worse, the ever-present, "What if...?"

That's what they need to know for their own peace of mind. You are a responsible, maturing, intelligent, young man. You can explain the difference between personal fantasy desires in a (yes) normal, healthy, sexual person... from the violence, hatred, and criminal behavior they hear about in the newspapers, on the news, and on talk shows.

Haha, I have different excuses prepared for different people incase this happens to me. Maddog's one for my friend who loves rap. Another one once came across e-board in my history, but since he likes to look up porn, I was easily able to say it must have popped up somewhere, since at the time half the homepage was ads and he didn't scroll down much further. That was the closest anyone ever came because I don't let many people use my laptop.

I think you should talk to them about the fact that it's not something wrong with you and you are completely sane. They need to understand that your sex life is a private matter and has absolutely nothing to do with them. But what you should mostly adress after the original shock has blown over is the complete break of trust they have created with you. If my parents did something like this with me it would really damage my relationship with them. Trust me, if my prudish Catholic parents found this out about me they would probably react in the same way (my computer is at my fiance's place not my house so this will probably not happen). Your sex life has nothing to do with your parents and is a private thing. You need to let them know this. But you should also give your parents the credit that they will calm down one day and then you will need to work on building your relationships up again because you don't want to loose them just like they don't want to loose you. If I'm not explaining this corectly or you want to talk to me about it or something my yahoo is Jezebel_Muffin so please give me a line sometime if you can. I'm deeply sorry about this catasrophe but just be patient with your parents and give it time.

I experienced almost the same thing you did, and I know how bad it sucks.

I was emailing, calling, and texting a girl all the time. We mostly talked about having sex with each other and what we would do if we ever met. My phone is under my mom's name, so when she saw so many text messages she got suspicious. I told her who I was messaging but not what the messages were about. She got more suspicious.

We had dial up back then and whenever we connected to the internet, msn messenger would always sign in automatically. I never imagined that Stephanie would send me an email while my mom was online. Acting on an instinct, she clicked on the message about a new email from Stephanie. She saw all the stuff I talked about with her.

And that is why we no longer have the internet at my house, and why I have a super complicated password just to get into my laptop.
