The nutjobs think that it's imposing your beliefs of God into the minds of others. They try to use it in the context of "separation of church and state."
I recall a similar incident happened a good while ago where a company banned the Easter Bunny decorations from being displayed because it was considered religious. The irony of that was humorous and shows how stupid these people really are.
