Friend requests????(RB Profile changes) - Rape Board

I was just checking out my profile(because im conceited like that)and i noticed the changes that had been done to it.(Eye Like

)Then i got friend requests from some cool people.I of course said yes but then i wondered.Why do we now have this option?Whats the purpose of it?Is it just like MySpace or Face Book's way of listing your friends?Why didn't the Fraggles of Fraggle Rock ever thank the Doozers for making those great crystallized structures that the Fraggles ate?

If you have any of these answers or just more questions about the changes please share!

First off, I just want to say that I really appreciate the new profile options set up here.
It's awesome.

Answering what I can based off of my personal experience TDO,

In some ways it is. Myspace and Facebook has a lot more options and many other features (blog, commentary page, chats, etc. etc.).
But for a forum profile this is definately top of the line, and I appreciate it.

If memory serves me correctly, we did have that option before the recent update.
It was called "Buddy List".
However, the list wasn't visually exquisite as it is now, and the "friends" on the list didn't even appear on the profile.

I don't know about the rest, but I like the new photo album option on here.
If this was to get any futher advancements, a commentary page + blog option + some way to add a music juke-box (like the one TDO has set up on the K-1) would be nice

While I haven't had a chance to look through the entire thing yet you will notice a very different security screen which allows you to custom tailor who has access to various parts of your profile. Ranges from anyone -> registered members only -> contacts only -> friends only. With friends apparently being the highest level of security, so if you aren't sure of someone you can always make them a contact first and as you get to know them elevate them to a friend.

And something that may be of immediate interest to TDO and a few others who had been discussing it previously, now you can post your own image in your "profile picture" and then set the security of just that one element of your profile to "friends only". Viola! You have a way to have control over who sees your picture without the fuss of "how many posts" or "how much rep" someone has. You can use your own judgment rather than those {sometimes} rather artificial numbers.

There is also a way to leave "public" PM's if you will in the form of visitor messages which appear to work in much the same way as leaving a comment on a blog. If nothing else you can leave a message for someone whose PM box is full! And on that note the PM box has been expanded from 70 to 100 so you have more capacity for messages than you had before.

There is quite a bit to the new system and time and experimentation will unlock all the secrets. Now if they could just fix the forum clock...

Then perhaps the 100 messages is only for "official" privileged members? Because previous to the update I was still at 70 messages. Any of the newer folks care to verify that?
