A longtime member of our community, Rape_Slut on RB and other boards but Marie in real life, passed away last Saturday after a long fight with leukemia. She was 26 years old and loved pervy people, travelling, smilies and vodka. A memorial service has already been held in Auckland New Zealand and her parents will scatter her ashes according to Marie's wishes.

I had the very good fortune to know Marie quite well from another form, and I cherished her friendship very much. She was a very special person ... an exceptional, multi-talented young woman who had a promising career as a professional engineer in real life.

Marie had a boundless zest for life and a burning desire to explore and experience all the wonders of it. To have her own life cut so short is a tragedy. Words are really inadequate to express my sorrow and profound sense of loss.

I also knew Marie quite well, and spoke to her not even a week before her passing.

She was an exceptional person - a wise old soul in the body of a pretty young woman.
She was full of wisdom, light and laughter. Although we never met in person, I would suspect
that she lit up the room when she entered.

She was a peacemaker, an engineer, a joker and could have an entire conversation consisting entirely of smilies.
She was also a thinker with more common sense than most twice her age.

I will miss Marie badly. The world just doesn't have enough like her in it.

What can anyone say when a 26 years old people dies? It's sad and it's unfair. It makes you think how short and delicate life is. It makes you think of how stupid we are spending our lives hunting for wealth and power when the true happiness is in front of our eyes and still we can't see it!

Its really funny how someone you never met can effect you so much. This is the second person I know online who has passed on recently and it is just as sad as a freind in real life leaving. All the best to Rape sluts family and I hope she is in a better place looking over us

I did not know her, so I can't say I will miss her, but hearing it still makes me sad. My heart goes out ot her family-to have to bury your child must be the most horrible thing for any human, and one can only imagine what her parents must be going through right now

I worked with Marie on another forum for a while. Many interesting female characters have come and gone on these boards, but she was one of the most lively, attractive and intelligent I have ever had the pleasure of talking to. She had everything.

She would give Doggy a run for his money with the number of smilies she could post or use in IM. She knew it drove me crazy and of course she did it anyway. I would not mind receiving a load of them from her right now at all.

I don't mean this as a disrespect to her but when people die, they get far more "recognition" than they got when they were "here" and it's an unfortunate thing. When I mean this, I mean that she's so well-liked and she's so smart, according to the people, and due to the way life is, it's probable that we didn't get to see the full extent of her existence. I, for one, missed out on this due; geographical differences to boot.

I think this just highlights how we need to treasure our relationships with people, no matter how close or far.

At 26 years, she's not too much older than I am and it's just the beginning of life, really. Much too soon.

RIP rape_slut.
