Burning the Quaron - Rape Board

A Pastor of a small church in north central Florida wants to burn about 200 copies of the Quran that have been sent to him (he says) by people from all over the world. He says this is an attempt to protest against radical Islam, but if he makes good on his threat will it backfire.

Rather than drawing attention to the ill's of Radical Islam will this act further inflame it? Will it put American and EU troops that make up the NATO mission in Afganistan at risk? American General Patraes, the commander of US Forces in Afganistan seems to think so. Is he correct or is he making a mountian out of a molehill?

This Preacher is a charlatan and a crook who is only looking for publicity, according to his own daughter, he was kicked out of a church that he founded in Germany for dipping into the church's till to pay his own expenses. This church is shocked at his intentions to burn the Quran.

I agree with General Pertaeus that it could endanger our troops and the overall effort in Afghanistan and I agree with Hilary Clinton who said "It's regrettable that a pastor in Gainesville, Florida, with a church of no more than 50 people can make this outrageous and distressful, disgraceful plan, and get the world's attention"

It always surprises me that every almost every religion universally teaches respect, tolerance and kindness to your fellow man....

Then this happens!

If more of these holy people practiced what they preached then maybe, just maybe the world could be a bit better.

To be honest the thing that has really made me mad is not him so much, but those who seek to justify him by basically saying that as some sections of the Arab and Islamic population mistreat the Bible/ the US flag/ add whatever symble you want, then this is ok, as the good ol' USA is a free country boy blah blah blah and it is his right to do whatever he wants blah blah...

So they do not believe in the Christian virture of turn the other cheek, but the old testement 'eye for an eye'

And yes I hear you Pete. It's ok as far as some are concerned for this prick to burn the quran and offend millions of people but it's not ok to build a mosque 2 blocks away from the world trade center because thats unsensitive. Go figure.

Religion isn't bullshit. Its the people that abuse it. I have no religion in my life but many do and get alot out of it. I don't get it myself and never will but I have no right to tell someone that their beliefs are bullshit.

Its those that use the name of God to strengthen their positions or impose power on others than ruin a good thing.
