Skip the handcuffs. Placed on too tight they often cause ulnar nerve damage (think carpal tunnel) resulting in loss of hand function and long term pain that may or may not be correctable by surgery.

If abrasion is your thing, go with a nice sisal rope, a rough fibrous twisted braid rope that rubs like sandpaper if your victim struggles. She'll have her wrists or ankles rubbed raw, but there's little chance of long term nerve damage.
