i've told... 4-ish people. shelley is right, the more you tell people (if you know the people well) the more weird stuff you'll get in return.

people usually have just as many skeletons in their closet that they're dying to get off their chest

... you just have to be careful how and when (and to who) you broach the subject.

My wife is in the closet with me.

We first met on Alt.com, which is a dating website for people into BDSM. We exchanged emails and phone calls, then met for dinner ... and afterwards went straight to a motel, where she put one some old clothes that she didn't mind getting torn ... and tear them I did, then proceded to violate her ... to her mild protest and great pleasure.

We did a lot of role-play when dating and first married. We haven't told anyone about our kink, so I guess she and I are in the closet together.
