I've never done a role play for the following reasons.
1, I've never found one that meets my girl/girl needs.
2, If I did find one I have no idea how it works.
3, I'm not that sure I want to get that heavily involved with someone here until I've emailed them for a while getting to know them and trust them, and no one seems interested in that.
4, It's messages like "Lets do it for real" that make reason 3 necessary.

I can't help you with point 1, and point 3's a good idea

Point 2 on the other hand, I may be able to help you with.

Its a story written by two people, you decide the who and the what, and then you just go for it. Write the build up, what you want to do to her, how you are reacting to what they are doing to you. It can be anything from a couple of paragraph to nearly story length, it all depends on how you are taken by the story.

Good luck in finding someone to play with.

i've had some people start roleplays with me and then just cancel out in the middle of the roleplay and not explain why. so i don't really roleplay any more cuz there's no point if they just drop off.

I agree there, i find online role plays cheesey, like perv Dungeons and Dragons. Few seem interested in indulging. I prefer the physical stuff

I will say this, if I'm online on YM or wherever, and I have some time, I'm always willing to role-play. Unfortunately, those times are few and far between.

Quite frankly, unless you already know the other party well, it's a huge crapshoot. The non-consensual nature of the fantasy clashes with the need to communicate effectively with each other about what both sides are actually wanting to get out of the role-play. In an actual BDSM encounter, there are conventions about things like safewords; in an online story, far too often people just get bored or offended and stop rather than explaining what they need. Even asking if something is wrong shoots the "vibe" to hell.

It's hard enough to try to read someone's mind IRL; over the Internet, it's fucking impossible.

Heh, I used to RP a few years back, and I'd be up in someone's IM box most of the time -or I'd RP in yahoo and do feedback by talking OOC (in parenthesis).

I guess things have changed, and not for the better! Such a fucking shame.

Quality is hard to find. And it's not necessarily "detailed", long drawn out ones that are lacking. More specifically, there's a lack of imagination, and more importantly, a lack of basic grammar and language skills in many cases. Even a good RP 'quickie' can be satisfying...but there should be some remnant of intelligence in the dialog. Just my 2 cents...

Yes, I am finding the issue is a solid grasp on literary skills are the major issue for me. I have only roleplayed a few times on chat or via email, but the lack of story telling pisses me right off! Also a lack of opportunity, for me... the victim to interact in any way other then responding to the situation, it becomes hard for me to connect and be drawn into a story that I am not interested in to be honest
