A hell of alot of words in the english language have their roots in german, as well as french and latin. Its a very rich and complicated form of communication.
Slang for instance can change wildly from parts of the same country. I'm a Londoner now living in the midlands and theres a language barrier here sometimes lol

I know that the Brits spoke English first, but you hardly created slang. We have created more than our share over here, some of it much more widly used and popular than present British slang. Maybe not as interesting in some cases, but just as origional.

One Britishism I do wish would catch on over here is "shag". It's more naturally gender-bidirectional than "fuck" and less evocative of hostility. "She fucked him" sounds like a strained use of language, but "she shagged him" seems to be just as natural a usage as "he shagged her", as best I can tell. And people don't say "shag you" as an expression of aggression.

Me: But it's Arsch in German,
For that matter, wasn't it arsenos in ancient Greek? (And they of all people should know ) The word may have quite a pedigree.....
