Default What do you with your webhistory if you die suddenly

Been thinking about this lately. Being a part of the darker parts of sexual fantasies, like rape and stuff. You tend to download, the darker things of porn.

I got this board membership, i got downloads that i delete. If dont delete them, i put them in cloud storage, like dumptruck etc.

They wouldnt probably find those accounts, but at the moment i have like 20 rape movies on my hard drive, i try to use incognito mode in chrome when surfing porn.

But i died, to night accidentally and ofc maybe my wife, or family would check out my computer, getting to know my real dark side, I have never told anyone that i know, my personal fantasies, and I dont think my close family would take it very well if they knew..

I might make a deal with a very close friend, to erase everything on my hard drive if die suddenly.

Anyone of you have any strategies ?

Well...a couple tactics.

1) My entire collection is stored in an encrypted file container...which requires a 20 digit password that I get prompted for when I start the computer. Without that, no one is going to casually stumble upon anything on my hard drive.

2) As for web history, I use multiple firefox profiles on the same computer. One for my day to day browsing, and one for...other things.
The way to open my hidden firefox profile isn't as obvious as a desktop icon, so unless someone already knew it was there, no one would go looking for it
I find deleting web history to be tedious...I'd much rather just hide it.

Word of warning about cloud services...you might want to check out their privacy policy re: their use of your files.

Excellant question, Momentum!! I have wondered about that myself. I keep all my 'special file' is a hidden..pw protected file.. and I'm pretty anal about keeping cookies and temp files and browsing history deleted. The one thing that I had forgotten about was 'my recent documents'.. those dont delete with temps or anything and as far as I know have to be manual deleted one by one..PLEASE if there is a quicker way someone tell me. But after thinking I was being pretty careful..I stumbled on 'my recent documents' and there were hundreds of past viewed.. if someone had found those it would have embarrassed me to deaths second level.

I use CCleaner a lot to clean up browsing paths,(including recent documents) plus, once a week, wipe all unused space by running Diskscrubber v3.3. I leave nothing dodgy on my hard drive at all. I have everything on 64 gig thumb drives. (Well hidden)

Well Wiggles, if you don't usually use the recent documents list to begin with, you can just disable it entirely...so you don't have to worry about it.

The exception would be for individual programs (i.e. if you have stories saved as word files...word remembers those).

This is definitely a worthwhile concern. I try to save everything to an external hard-drive that is kept hidden away, but someone will find it eventually. Even still, I'm not always up to date on clearing my history or temp files.

I'd probably get pretty lucky though. Anyone older than me probably wouldn't know how to see what's on here anyhow, and if one of my nephews got his hands on my PC he'd probably think of his late Uncle Biggers with much reverence and respect!!!

Damn I am such a slacker...

My only security is that I have one computer for day to day stuff and games... nothing even remotely compromising there. For my adult stuff I use this little 400 dollar lappy I bought a few years ago...

Who ever opens this when I croak is gonna get an eyefull... hehe.

I'm the only one who is on my laptop. As for if I die suddenly. If anyone can get through my password, then whatever. I'm dead.

been there & tried that. I hope you will remove the encryption.
That is nothing but disaster.Once you loose ANY info in any way on whatever drive you use now & even the drive you store it all on, encryption will be lost & you will sorry that you ever messed with it.
Trust me, I've lost shitloads of goods all cause I thought encryption was good.

Not sure I'm as tech savy as some of yous. But I like to clear internet history, and I really don't keep any movies or pictures on my computers - Those and my writings I keep in a flash drive.

But I guess if anyone found the flash drive and popped it in a computer I'd be pretty much fucked so lets hope there aren't any sudden deaths.

When I finally end my life at ninety years old, (or older if I can get away with it) I really won't much care what people find on my laptop (or equilivant of the time period) I'll be dead, baffling a poor mortician as to why a 90 year old man died by taking a jet ski off a ramp, and crashing it into a boat (or other handy object to crash into)
What they find, provided I even watch porn in my old age, is their problem

Eh, I read your original thread on your encryption woes, and this isn't like that. I don't do it through WinXP to encrypt folders, or individual files. This saves the entire collection as a file, which I also have a copy of on an external hard drive :P

and to be fair, if your computer crashes, your stash is gone regardless...can't really blame encryption

Then why the hell is there such a thing for it if shit happens & can't do anything? sorry I don't mean to bitch at you, Just saying that or asking why is encryption there to use freely when you can easily loose it?
That doesn't make any sense (along with other things in life )

Well, to put it simply, the point of encryption is stop others from accessing it without your permission, not to provide security if anything goes wrong. If you want to ensure you don't lose it, using a backup program - not encryption - is your solution

Battfink mentioned CCleaner (which stands for Crap Cleaner) and it may be just what many of you are looking for. First, it is Free. 2nd it's main task is to scan your comp for "All" temp storages and footprints and delete them. You can select what is and is not touched but it will auto detect any program you have that uses temp storages from jAVA and media to recent documents and a host of others.

In addition, one of it's tools is a decent registry scrubber that when run will find all the dead ends in your registry that are no longer validand allow you to remove them, which makes a drastic difference in your computer speed.

Finally it allows you to dock it in your recycle bin and you have an option for the level of security on the deletion. Many of you are aware that deleting a file does not mean someone cannot find and recover that deletion. CCleaner fives you an option to do a DOD )Dept. of Defense) level deletion where the information is deleted then wriitten over 7 times to make sure it Stays deleted...

Did I mention Free?

In my farewell letter I will mention all my passwords from all sites I've ever been on, asking my family and friends to remove me from the internet. And the moment they read I was a member of this board they'll get a heart attack and join me in heaven ... sorry, hell ... sooner than I might prefer.
