I've read that several times previously, very carefully. I'm aware of what it means thanks BC, but it relates to pornography not Internet forums. As far as pornography goes, about the most "extreme" I have is some GGG stuff!

What we're talking about here is us Brits disappearing from this forum, and apart from people who only come here to look at porn I can see no reason why any of us should.

I really, really hope no one leaves. I hope this doesn't make me sound stupid, but is there really nothing you can do? No petition to bring up, no challenging this law, no porotesting?

I know it might sound extensive - and maybe I'm spoiled as hell by my freedom - but I just can't believe there's nothing you all can do.

Are there any agencies, groups etc. that denouce this law? Are they even remotely sucessful??

FR, you need to look closely at the wording

(a) an act that appears to threaten a persons life- this would include threats with a knife/bladed article/weapon/choking etc So if you have any movies/clips/photo's etc ( pornography, not mainstream Hollywood) where the victim is been threatened in such a way, you would be committing the offence.

(b) an act that could cause serious harm to a persons anus, vagina or breasts, again these could include BDSM movies where 'victim' is whipped etc.

It is all down to how a court would interpret the image in question. Bare in mind the councils in the UK are using anti terrorism legislation to see what people are putting in their dust bins or where children live as regards school catchment areas, and you will see the very wide scope in which laws can be interpreted.

This means those who down share movies from Rapidshare etc are almost certainly committing the offence, as do those who subscribe to pay per view sites ( easily traced by credit card payments as a lot of kiddie fiddlers have found out to their cost thankfully)


The Police can act on suspicion that an offence has been carried out. That means they can go to your house, arrest you, take all your computers away for examination, search your premises for any other evidence. They don't need a warrant to do this, once a person has been arrested full powers of search of premises and seizure of evidence come into play.

As for me, I will be getting my hard drive wiped ( and I don't just mean press delete), but wiped and will be very careful as to what I look at.

The one saving grace is the police have more than enough on their hands keeping up with kiddy fiddlers and those who groom under age girls ( and rightly so these people should be targeted). To go after those who look at internet porn ( then again credit card traces are easily done) such as that which the act is aimed at, would be a massive job, still who wants to take the chance?

Doors, people have been campaigning against this for some time, online petitions, demos, I think there was even some sort of parliamentary lobbying to try and get the views of perverts aired.

Basically, it all stems from a teacher who died during a sexual act involving strangulation a few years ago. The boyfriend was never found guilty of any crime, but it transpired during the trial that he was into porn sites that featured strangulation. A massive campaign was launched by the womans mother to get kinky porn banned at it one the backing of one or two gutter press papers.

It is a consistent feature of our current government that they give in to media pressure, often resulting in knee jerk reactions instead of intelligent policy making.

A changeof government is unlikely to reverse this legislation, but with luck a few new appointments to the judiciary will ensure cases are prosecuted sensibly.

Actually, on reflection, the boyfriend may have been convicted in connection with the fact that he hid her body in a lock up, but he was exonorated of killing her. I suppose we can never really know if he intended to kill her, and if the Internet was an influencing factor, or if he had strangulation fantasies before the Internet.

Man jailed over vomit porn 'filth'

A mail order pornographer who believed his clients had the right to watch the extreme "filth" he specialised in was sentenced to 18 months in jail today.
For more than a decade John Bluck, 51, from Coventry, ran a catalogue pornography business between his home in the Midlands and a west London mailbox.

Bluck specialised in extreme titles featuring defecation, urination, vomiting, torture and rape, but his one-man business was described in court as "failing" because many of his clients had moved to the internet for more immediate gratification.

Last year his pornography empire, trading as RGB Productions, was finally smashed by police who, prosecutor Brett Weaver told Southwark Crown Court in London, had been surveying his dealings since 1998.

Mr Weaver told the court that Bluck attempted to escape detection by setting up a bank account using a false name and receiving orders via an anonymous mailbox in west London.

Between August 28 to December 3 last year, the police purchased and received a number of illegal videos from Bluck and were, in turn, sent catalogues by him advertising even more extreme material.

He was observed sending a number of brown A5 envelopes from a post office in Coventry. When police raided his home on December 8, officers found more than 2,500 unclassified pornographic videos and DVDs, with nearly 200 of these contravening the Obscene Publications Act.

Bluck pleaded guilty to all charges at Westminster Magistrates' Court last month.

Judge Michael Gledhill said: "You are highly intelligent, you began a university degree and completed two years of it and fell out after your criminal activities - you are psychologically flawed.

"I accept that the business was declining because the sort of people who want to indulge in torture, defecation, urination were able to do that more efficiently by downloading such filth from the internet.

"Your personal view is that those who want to look at it should be allowed and you don't care that it is against the law. You are an arrogant man and regard yourself as above the law."

With his long, grey hair falling across his face as he bowed his head in the dock, Bluck, wearing a denim jacket and jeans, was handed an 18-month sentence for three charges of possessing obscene material for gain, three further charges of publishing obscene material, six counts of supplying unclassified recordings and a single charge of laundering over £25,000
