Video Games
Video Games: I know we have to have at least a few gamers on this forum so fess up all you nerds. Who here plays video games and what do you play. Just to get the ball rolling I'll start.
I have been a gamer geek ever since I was a kid. Started out playing all different kinds of board games then as I got a little older I played military games from a company called Avalon Hill, Rise and Decline of the Third Riech was my favorite. When my folks got me one of the first Atari systems I was hooked. I can remember playing pong for hours.. geez. In my early 20's the first computers hit the scene, old Apples, Tandy's and Commadores. As computers got more and more advanced the games just got better and better. Now with the advent of todays powerful PC's the games coming out are amazing. These days I still play alot of military style games. The Total War series is great, especially Rome: Total War. I also play a really cool (to me) browser game called Supremacy. It's based on WWI and can be played by anyone for free. Another aspect of gaming I have been into the past few years is MMO's. For those that dont know what that means it stands for massively-mulitplayer online. Basicly you take on the persona of a hero or villian and run around doing quests, having adventures and in many of the new games fighting other people who are also playing the game. Most people have at least heard of the game WoW so you probably have an idea of what I am talking about. For the past several years I have been playing a game called Age of Conan, which is of course based on Howard's Conan books. A new game coming down the pike is called The Old Republic. It is based on Star Wars and promises to be a great game. Anyway, now I have let my Game Geek secret outta the bag so come on yall. Dont leave me hangin. I know at least a few of you have to be gamers to so lets hear about it. BTW if this is better placed in Idle Talk or somewhere then feel free to move it

Yeah I played the KoToR games also, loved em. Just got finished with Dragon Age, that was a blast also. Especially with the nude Mod and some other extras I put in.
When ToR comes out we are gonna have to hook up.

Biding my time and waiting for The Force Unleashed 2 tobe released later this month. I thought the first game was great, new, inventive and alot more clever than most Jedi games out there. Plus a great storyline and a sympathetic main character who you really get behind

I like to hit up the bargain bin on occasion and I recently got a used copy of FEAR 2 for 360. It's a pretty good FPS, but at the end was something I hadn't expected:
*Spoiler Alert* The final battle takes place on the psychic plane as you battle a crazed marine. Intercut between the battle sequences is the image of ALMA the female antagonist riding you as your strapped to a chair. Your character gets RAPED by the the decaying corpse of ALMA so that she can have your child. I did not see that coming. |

A game called Vindictus just went into open Beta in the US and Canada. I just downloaded it. Still in Beta so it's a work in progress but could be interesting. It has a boobie slider for the females so cant be all bad

I liked JRPGs a lot as a kid though I don't really play them anymore, all the modern ones suck and completel pale in comparison to stuff like Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger. I like platformers, shooters (I can't count the time I wasted on Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, or all the times I skipped school to play CounterStrike at a netcafe as a kid) andadventure games were a big deal back in the early/mid 90s when they were at their prime with titles like Full Throttle and Grim Fandango. I played the fuck out of Diablo as well haha. Nowadays the only games I seriously play are WoW, Borderlands and Monster Hunter Tri.

The first game I remember playing was Pong on Colecovision. After that I moved up to Atari and was playing games like Pole Position, Frogger and Q-bert.
Eventually I found my true passion which is RPG's. On 8-bit systems I beat Dragon Warrior, Miracle Warriors, and Phantasy Star. On the 16-bit systems I beat Final Fantasy 2 and 3, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Sword of Vermillion, Phantasy Star 2 and 3, Ogre Battle, Chrono Trigger and probably a few others that are slipping my mind. My second favorite Genre is fighting games. Street Fighter 2 is what made me get into fighting games. I also played a lot of Killer Instinct, Marvel Super Hero's and X-Men vs. Street Fighter. At some point in my life I found Tibia a MMORPG and fell in love with it as fast as I fell in love with this site. However they are very time consuming and had to stop playing them. My favorite games are Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind (probably best game and rpg of all time) and Dragon Quest 8. Mostly now I play Monopoly on my phone and from time to time I might load up an emulator to relive some of the classics. |

The first game I remember playing was Sonic the hedgehog, and I was hooked every since.
I'd have to say that for console games my favorites are Halo ( the first is my favorite out of all of them. ), KOTOR, Battlefront, and even the first Call of Duty. I have too many PC games to list as my favorites, but right now I'm absorbed with world of warcraft and the last Civilization game. I tend to rotate through games frequently, because I have so many that I enjoy. I'm also really looking forward towards The Old Republic game. It looks amazing |

How good is DC Universe Online? I've seen the few videos I could find on youtube, and read what I could find, but I'm curious as to how fluid and smooth the game play is currently.

It plays pretty good actually and the charactor generator allows you alot of freedom to get the look you want. Kajidic has about a dozen or so people playing. If you decide to play let me know.
