I have always wondered about the wall. Was it to keep the Scot's out, or the English in.

You're all wrong. Hadrian built walls all over the Roman Empire to define the reaches of his Empire. A bit like drawing a line in the sand with his foot.

You used Empire twice in the same sentence. "Realm" may have been a better choice for the second instance.

Realm is only used by a King or Queen. An Empire is ruled by an Emperor.

The last King and Emperor was George the Sixth of Great Britain. The last non British one was Emperor Franz Josef of Austria-Hungary (Koenig und Kaiser) Kaiser Bill was Emperor of Germany but only King of Prussia.

A federation of states is better than a bunch of colonies and 2 countries ruled by force. Ask the IRA. Plus we got a deal on the Louisiana purchase and Alaska.

Irish American sympathizers sent smuggled arms and funds to support the IRA. Yes American weapons were smuggled, but Americans did not support the terrorists. The priests may of been Irish, but they do not represent the American policy. US has prosecuted such smuggling when uncovered thru investigation.

The IRA was already a problem before Libya because weaponry mainly came from Irish and English armories.
