What the Hell Happened Here??? - Rape Board

I'm curious and a bit concerned as well: what the heck happened to the Rape Board Story of the Year Contest?

Let's review, shall we?

The Contest was announced October 6th, 2009 by well respected Member and Moderator Sternenlied. It appears to have been very well conceived, organized, executed and publicized. IMHO

Story Contest

Sternenlied took two weeks to query the good Members of this board on what Theme they might like to see used in the Contest. A very novel approach and it seemed to generate a lot of interest. 12 themes were put up for a vote on October 22nd.

2 groups of 6 Themes each were voted on. If my memory serves me correctly, there were a lot of votes cast between October 22nd and November 1st. 2 winning Themes were allowed: Stalker Rape and Trip Gone Wrong. I thought it very generous to allow two broad, easy to fit Themes for the Contest.

The Contest Themes were announced on November 2nd and the deadline for submission was set as January 2nd, 2010 allowing two full months for authors to complete their work. Sternenlied even extended the deadline till January 8th to allow more authors to participate.

Why then were there only three entries? And two of them had previously been published to this board, necessitating little to no work by those authors to gain entry to the Contest...

I submit to you that the fault is not Sternenlied's by any measure. The whole contest has been well run and most likely a lot of work for her.

In my time on this board lurking and as a posting Member, I have seen many talented, prolific authors posting stories. I see that many of them are currently active. And what about the herd of new authors that are emerging? Where is everybody?

Does anyone have a clue what the hell just happened here?

Same as happened all over this site - people have lost interested in each other.

Have a look at Sierras birthday thread. Five replies. FIVE! A few months ago this would have brought an avalanche of replies. The people still here don't really give a flying fuck about anybody but themselves. That is why the video sections are the only ones with more than one person viewing:

Why don't the long-timers start kicking some ass around here?

We need an anti-wanker campaign.

And no disrespect to Sierra (or anyone else) I simply don't do B-day threads... Except for Admin.

I thought about writing a story to enter, but once I got started, I saw that the story didnt fit into the theme required, so I quit on it. Good story though, I'll post it once I clean it up. Maybe people dont like rape anymore?

I honestly think this board had it's day already...seems like a lot of good posters and active posters have drifted away.

I know this might sound silly but maybe some truth to it...Maybe we've said and read everything there is when it comes to the subject of fantasy Rape.

Alot of this is going to be post holiday appathy. Everyone is partied out or just getting on with real life for a bit after the whole "birth of Jesus" thing. Although why a south american goalkeeper gets an international holiday for his birthday is beyond me

And for the record, Dec and Jan is always the slowest time of year around here. Tis' usually the case with most forums anyways....except ones dedicated to winter or Christmas.

And from where I sit, I see A LOT of new posters on RB, and am quite excited to see what they do with their board!

Perhaps some writers are having writers block on their own stories and because of that can't seem to come up with a good story. I know that's the case for me.
