As for why he did it who knows? It doesnt really matter why. Everybody can justify there own weird behavoir in "their" mind if they really want to.

My guess would be like a lot of other people he enjoyed causing chaos & problems. Some people get off on watching others suffer. And yes while I know these are only download file links, it doesnt matter. Peoples work was destroyed for someones amusement. That is a disgrace.

I would say we can go from red to alert to yellow at this time. Its possible more than one rat was nibbling at the cheese, I dont know this for a fact but is possible.

We as a community must remain ever VIGILANT to protect ourselves here.

While I can't speak about this directly as I am not a mod here I will express my feelings on this. It would be unfair of anyone on this board to seek to take retaliatory action despite the mischief he wrought on this board. There is nothing to be gained by posting his IP or any other details about him on this forum. The ban is the first step and the mods will doubtless continue to take additional steps to secure the board. Knowledge is power and we gained a great deal in recent days about what's been going on. Of the threads you noted several were dead a couple of days ago but a few look like recent kills. Note especially that most had no protection an even unregistered users could view the links. {see my answer to CR below to continue this thought}

If I may add to CR's very astute observation here, Personally I feel that the "red alert" may be behind us but the battle is not won yet. There certainly could have been {and may still be} some additional nibblers out there reporting links. So at a minimum I would STRONGLY urge all posters to at least use the STG button to restrict their links to registered members who are logged in {option 2}. Otherwise post limit guards of 10-20 may now be sufficient protection but this is NOT any guarantee and all users should continue to use what protection level they feel comfortable with and all visitors should respect their decision as the board resettles to a new equilibrium. Remember the posters are providing you with a free service.

In my final thought let us remember to not allow anger or thoughts of revenge color our behavior too much. I am here reminded of a quote from a great man "An eye for an eye only makes the whole world blind" Let's move beyond this with dignity and grace and let the ravishment of the women return in earnest

There is not even the slightest possibility to post anyone's IP address in public or via PM. IPs, emails, and/or any other details a user submits to register are personal data and they should never being published or revealed.

Hey, Sani...Stainless Steel Rat! I just wanted to offer thanks to your for going to the lengths to investigate what was going on. It takes time and effort that frankly would be above and beyond the call of duty for many people. So you have my appreciation and respect.

I think it is nicely apt that I managed to get one of the best parting shot's in on ezzdx in the rowdy room before he was banned...if I had known of his imminent ban then it would have looked almost perfect.

Perhaps as opposed to all the retribution idea's that so many seem keen on, we should just proudly display my post. lmao

this is good news guys... i almost frustated with this board and not visit for some time...

but i guess the new battle had just began, i think sani and steel rat did a great job; but cause u revealed the method; now ezzdx also now how to avoid the same mistakes. He's level up now...

but i am relieved cause it's all based on personal reason. I almost think that the rat is owners of the videos/paysites.

Sherlock Holmes would be jealous of them.

It is funny that one of the precautions was number of post limitation to see the movie links although the rat (ezdexx) has 1319 posts..

He had also considerable reputation. (759)
I think there wasn't any link which he could not see.

His IP adress is banned but no guarantee that he had another nick joining from another location. ie: one is home and another is office etc.

If he had chance to read here, i would ask him why he had accelerated to report links since 2 months although he had joined the RB in October 2007.
If he didn't decide it one day suddenly, then it means it was a long term plan??

Anyway lets hope he was the only one although i know it is too much optimistic...

And as for posting the IP address, I would have to agree with Sani on this. More harm than good can come from posting members private information.

I think that would start a bad precedent. Private registration should be just that.

When I checked my last reputation received, I saw ezzdx has given me reputation for the same links he reported afterwards. It's ironical and sad, but now it's over.

One thing to remember...

RapidShare does flag accounts, and does periodically patrol their halls. Everyone knows that dead links occasionally show up even when there's no rats around. RapidShare is just a little more vigilant about porn than other share sites.

I suspect that RapidShare has several people's accounts flagged now and will have their bots watching for a bit.

I only mention this because I don't want people to go insane if further links are taken down. That particular rodent did a lot of damage here. It's going to take a while for all this to settle back down.

On the subject of publicly posting ezzdx's IP, I'm just curious, to the people who would like for the mods to do that, what exactly is it you think would be accomplished by that?

It's not unheard for staff members from different rape forums to privately exchange IPs, email addresses, etc. but that's done in private and out of mutual cooperation because these forums attract a lot of the same people and thus a lot of the same troublemakers.

From the viewpoint of forum staff, an IP can be a very useful piece of information. As an example, I once had a repeatedly banned troll send me an email. I got his IP from the email header and was then able to determine that he was he had rejoined not one, but two forums that he had previously been banned from.

That said, I fail to see what would be accomplished by exxdz's IP being publicly posted on the forum.

To answer the question that Noir asked a couple of pages back, there's a difference between someone getting a new IP by say rebooting a modem, versus someone who's using a proxy.

How easy or how hard it is too track a proxy depends on a combination of how skilled the person using the proxy is and how skilled the person attempting to track them is.

I know of one admin who tracked the troll I mentioned above, through various proxies, all the way back to the company the troll works for. However, the person who did that is NOT your typical computer user. He's a decades long IP professional, who specializes in network analysis and troubleshooting.

I've no idea what ezzdx does for a living, but he strikes me as an all around clown and I doubt there's much to worry about in him coming back. Even if he does come back, he shouldn't be hard to spot. He has a shall we say, unique way with words.

Well this might be unrelated event but I just had few of my MediaFire links reported and deleted. However those were older links that were not protected with the post count requirement system but if this incident is indeed related to the current events that have taken place in here I could warn those using different kind of file hosting services about this being the time to get some extra protection for your links.

Thanks JR for answering but I did not claim the two ways to modify your IP address had anything in common. Even if he does register and maintain a low profile I hope we at least have 1 person capable of tracking the real IP through a proxy or few.

By the way I must say it was rather odd to go through my old links and see ezzdx's posts where he praised the quality of the movies I had uploaded but guess the feeling of power coming from the control a person has over thousands of people had something to do with it...
