I see some great points as always from multiple people.

I like what Crotch Ripper said about many of us growing together. I am not sure how conservative people were in the old days of this board with repping but much like Maradona said after his return it seemed that there was an explosion in this board.

That is not a bad thing. I myself was in the 2 to 3 thousands for a while after starting in May of 08. I have gone up extremely quickly in the last number of months. I am sure do to playing in the game room and the power of people repping that has increased.

The Rep system for me has been a good thing as I find myself touching with other people. I dont think it should be tampered with. It is fun and much easier to read something and like it and give the person rep. I dont post to idle talk or the rowdy room but I do read the stories and appreciate the talent that is there. I do not have to leave a message to give rep but that person knows I appreciate what they have written.

It is a way for me to express my feelings, and I would hate it if that was taken away from me. Like Crotch Ripper said why fix what is not broken. It took me a long time to give rep but now that I have joined the group of rep givers, I want it to stay the way it is.

Sometimes I use reps when just want to say thanks the the movie posters, if I don't want to leave a longer message. Very rarely I use it to say thanks for someone who rep me before. And usually I have problem with not be able to give a rep, cause I have to spread it before

Earlier I looked to members reps, cause it really meant something. Nowadays I don't give such a value to that. I think it does not show, that you have posts that should not be missed. Rather it means you are active and have a friends here.

I'd like to have a complementary system for posts, not members. I mean, that you may +/- a post. Anonymously. So that nobody, even an original poster, would know who did that. Then you can know if other people like/don't like this single post.

Anyway I don't think a rep system needs changes. Only it works and means something a little different then earlier (but I wasn't here that time

)

Ultimately the rep system boils down to just a number, while some may use it as a guide to how well respected a member is on the forum in the end it is the person's actions which will serve to distinguish their standing on the forum. The reputation system is "broken" in the sense that it has gone past the {as I interpret it} original way it was intended to be used but in the process has evolved into another form entirely. If folks are having fun with the way the reputation system is being used now then why not let it continue? Is not the purpose of everyone being here to have a good time? And if one person's idea of a good time is repping all their friends or responding to rep with rep, what's the harm in that? If the worst that anyone can say about the board is that the rep system doesn't work the way it's supposed to then I would suggest that overall things are pretty good here

As usual, quite brilliant and most articulate. I just want to add a few less than Stainless Steel Rat worthy comments.

I am a relatively new addition to this group. I leeched for a while and slowly tried to learn the methodology (hell, I'm still learning). This is the first forum in which I have been involved. At my age, the learning curve has to slowly surpass the dementia.

As a side note, I just want to say that I literally cheered when Sanitarium (my leading mentor) reached the 10,000 point mark! It was a real hoot for me! Recently, I wanted to be the one that got Crotch Ripper to 10,000 mark! I failed, but I made a valiant try! It was fun!

This forum is about having fun. Every day, Sierra, Phantom and the rest of the powers that be, try to come up with clever ways to deliver more fun for a bunch of outcast perverts and they do just that!

Finally, I want to pay respect to the honor and integrity of the "olde members" here. Recently, I got into a silly spat with theDarkOne. I assumed that my rep points would suffer untold damage. It didn't happen and indeed, I ended up getting a +rep. That's real class! It would seem that with the exception of spam, stolen links, and phishing posts, no one here is a bully.

The system doesn't seem to be broken. But, if the mods want to change it, I will support and respect their wisdom!

Yeah in a way I agree. Why not just change what we call rep instead of fixing it then. We could call them "Love Points" or 'Ass Kisses" or..., well maybe I'm not the best person to come up with a different name.

i guess its just me that only uses rep for its intended purpose then huh? i rarely, if ever, gve rep "just because", and give it if someone makes a post i like or does something funny or so on. i shouldnt have to constantly send people daily reminders that theyre my friends. they know it. chances are, if your my friend then i respect you enough not to treat you like an idiot and sned you daily messages to remind you i like you.

i guess i always interpreted the rep system as a reward system. even if someone is your friend, doesnt mean they deserve a reward just for being your friend, you know? hm...when i say that out loud, it sounds almost like cronyism XD

anyways, yeah. thats why people dont see much rep from me, and likely why i dont see much rep from others. in the long run, its all irrelevant anyways.

I agree wholeheartdly with the two above me

if it changes it won't be that big of a deal I'm positively certain that nobody here would notice nor care if the reputation system restarted or the gain or loss of numbers change. It's all about the fantasies here

Totally agree!

Besides, if I read a post so hot that leaves me gasping for breath, I enjoy being able to rep the author of that post and let her know how much I would enjoy thrusting my hot, swollen rep inside her.

The current 'rep' system is just too much fun to change.
