We had always competed. Both hired out of college by the same company. From the same college. Numbers one and two in the class. Both of us worked steadily up the corporate ladder. The rest of the new hirings either topped out in middle management or were quietly let go when the company brought in newer, hungrier people.

We alone remained. Because of the 10 years of competition, the relationship that started out frosty at best, turned into outright hate. Sniping at the office parties. Subtly trying to sabotage the other. Knowing that if one fell the other would immediately jump to the top of the heap.

Now, there is only one rung left. The firm is adding one new partner. Only one. I'm in the office, a quick glance at the clock shows that it is 3 in the morning. But a light is burning in yours too. I won't leave before you do. Even if it means staying here all night.

I need to get this presentation ready for the morning. I just finish up, locking my door behind me in case, as I'm about to leave for the night. Yawning, shaking my head at your door wondering what scheme you're concocting next. I don't care how I get the partnership, as long as I do get it.

One of the bosses even gave me tips on how to work presentation in my favor, and I'm proud of it. I'm not looking forward to the long commute home, and the fact that the subway goes right by your door, too. Going past even your stop creeps me out. I've always tried to do things right, and you do everything to make shortcuts.

Oh well, I'm going home, don't care, not noticing you behind me, as I walk out in one of my business suits, with a lowcut blouse underneath a sharp blazer and short skirt, in 2" heels, belying my 5'6, 38dd, medium build figure.

I wave to security on the way out, "Night John, see you later!" "Night Sarah, see you in the morning!" and head towards the subway station. I hear footsteps, I think, but they stop, and when I look around, nothing.

Heading out, gruffly acknowledging the security guard on the way out.

Trialing behind you, a new idea springs into my head. If you can't come into work tomorrow, you won't get the promotion. SMiling as I follow behind you. You did always have a sexy sway in your hips, and just because I hate you, doesn't mean I don't enjoy it. When you sto, I stop. Starting up again when you move. Quickly catching up. At the last moment, I see a shadow, and try to turn from it, but too late... I start to see stars right before I black out from the pain and the blow to my head. Damnit, I should have known he'd try to pull something, I think as I slip into unconsciousness. You quickly pick me up, and deposit me next to you on the train. When anyone asks, you just tell them that I had a really long day, knowing that considering the time, most would believe you, and even make "caring" jestures to make it look like you care about my being "tired". You take me to your place, close the door, and then try to figure out what to do.

It is a tense ride home, and an even tenser walk to the front door. I start at every word, wondering if it is the person who will figure out that things aren't exactly kosher here. But I make it to the room, and dump you on the floor. Pacing slightly as what I have done hits me. Assault, kidnapping. No choice now but to go through with it. Stripping my tie off my neck, I bind your hands behind your back with. A shameful use of an Italian silk tie, but it had to be done. I stuff my hankerchief in your mouth.

Pouring myself a drink to steady my nerves. Drinking it mumbling, "it had to be done. She deserved it."

I don't know this place... it sure isn't the office or my place. Is it his, or some place he found? I look around as much as I can, finally seeing you, glaring as hard as I can at you. If I didn't hate you before, I sure do now. How did I get here from the office?

I don't remember the subway, or a car or anything... then I remember you knocked me out. Wondering what you're going to do to me. I try to sit up, but still woozy from the coffee mug to my head, so I lie back down, rolling on my side to take my weight off my arms. Don't do anything stupid, just don't do anything stupid, I think to myself. I try to remain calm, the whole time wondering how I'm going to get out of this alive. How long is he going to keep me here? Does he really hate me that much? He can have the job if he wants it that bad! He'd just better not expect me to be under him after this even if all he does is keep me here until after the presentation. I gasp. The presentation! Who's going to give it now?

My main concern now though is, how to leave here alive, in one piece....
