im new but the 1st thing i noticed about this forum is that everything is hosted on rapidshare why does every1 host on that peice of shit its wank ffs

1 u have to wait forever to download off it

2 u can only download 1 file off it per hour for none premium subscribers

why doesnt every1 host on another better faster site

After reading the less-than-charitable reponses thusfar, you may appreciate that a bitch and moan about other members' posting vids to RapidShare was not a prudent choice of first post; however, this should not deter you from making some constructive contributions to RB in the future.

I understand a non-premium member's frustration with downloading from RS, but many of us who upload vids to RS are premium members. It's not that expensive to become a premium member, and renewals in some instances are accomplished simply by cashing-in accummulated premium points. RS, even for premium members, has its deficiencies but its widespread use is a fact that you should accept. You don't have to understand it or like it, but you're not about to change it.

ha well its not my first post and I say rapidshare sucks to.

To add to the gripes once you finally do get to download the movie it ends up being an unidentifiable file that windows can't find a program for.
it must be possible to find a host that hosts video that can be downloaded in the normal way that one would download movies from other video sites.

Dont think i have ever come across a movie that i could not watch Joanna, but then i have downloaded ever media player i know and i also know how codecs works but its a good idea to have windows media player, Real Time player, Quick Time Player and Divx Player downloaded as minimum and you will find that most movies will play on one of the above.

Most forums use Rapidshare to host files, you are only seeing for the side of the story, your story is about the freeloading downloader that is too cheap to buy a subscription.

There is another side of rapidshare that works very well and that is for the uploaders like us who buy a subscription and upload movies for you cheap arse leachers, it allows you to manage your uploads accounts very well and is great for hosting the files, you can create folders etc.

Like i said you only see the one side of the picture on why we use rapidshare.

Fuck that bullshit! Sorry, there are tons of filehosting sites which will allow you to host files for free! I lost the list of sites I used to have, but one that springs to mind is megaupload.com. I know that there are many, many others.

I just think that your attitude of "I pay and fuck anyone who doesn't" reeks of particularly stupid elitism (stupid because there are free alternatives to rapidshit) that's better suited to crapass irc forums where people have fileservers, ratios and only trade with each other.

I'd like to point out that he was ASKING A QUESTION. He was asking you all why you host in Rapidshare, because from the point of view of someone who has no knowledge of the benefits of this service, he only sees the negatives.

I will build on Wiz's answer (the best answer in the thread, to what was (I repeat) a question, not a flame-baiting) and say this:

Rapidshare is exactly what it says it is; a rapid file sharing tool. I cannot get speeds that I get from Rapidshare anywhere else, not even private servers. Try sticking these videos on MegaUpload and you will double your download time. As well as Sexuploader, and anywhere else that will actually physically host files of this size.

Rapidshare is so well-used because it's more convenient for the people who use it. Dig into your pocket and the change you will likely find could buy you a Premium account for a month or so, so it's not that difficult to upgrade. I had a Premium account last year, and the only gripe I had with Rapidshare (the downloading-queue and the download link timeout) was gone. It's the best place on the Internet that I have found for downloading files.

That's all that needed to have been said.
