Ballad For Jermaine Brown

The kitchen feels empty,
No pan to be greased-
Just mounds of frustration
For the parents of the deceased

A track and field hero,
A culinary pro;
The desire for one last glimpse
Caused his parents such woe

"We want to see him
One final look at our son"
"Ma'am, therell be time for that
When the autopsy's done"

All they ask for is closure
While theyre son is intact
He culd of been a chef,
Opened a restaurant, in fact

But his dream was left shattered
By one cold killer shot
A son in a casket-
Rather than a lobster in the pot

He jumped for his school;
He soared like a bird
Many words left unspoken
Hes strayed from the herd

The kitchen feels empty,
Though his spirit will stay
Hell cook for mom and pop again
In heaven someday

Gone in a "BANG!"
An innocent gunned down;
And all his parents get from the authorities
Is a sympathetic frown

XD, that was another old english assignment, we had to base a poem off a news article and his murder was front page so i went with it lol, not personal at all.....and not so much hate.....more unrecognise by the looks of it, along with other things XDD

really see most of my poems are from personal experience, i cant really write good poems about much else, you have my respect, i would have never been able to do that.

An evil I wonder

I have an evil in my soul,
A horrid stain on my heart like a cancerous mole.
It’s origin unknown,
But I feel it devouring my goodness within every bone.
It hurts not only you, but also me,
An evil I wonder if others can see.
Is it in the depths of my eyes or deeper,
And I am always the keeper.
My tears afterward filled with regret and sorrow,
But deep down I wonder if I will do the same tomorrow.
I see the hurt and pain I cause,
Yet sometimes I keep going without even a pause.
I say “I’m good, I’m good, I swear it’s true”
But self consciously I wonder "Who I am trying to convince, me or you?"

Every day I wonder if my life has made me cold,
A freezing, burning anger in my eyes, swirling bright red and bold.
My mouth says words I wish it would take back,
The tears swelling in their eyes, stabbing my heart like a tack.

I think of all the pain I’ve felt
And how life has battered me repeatedly with a belt.
I feel the strips and whelps on my heart and soul everyday,
And I can’t seem to make the misery go away.
With each dark bruise left on my heart,
It darkens tears and falls apart.
I then go to a place that’s now becoming familiar to me,
A place lately I continue to see.
An evil place in the back on my mind,
Here are things you wouldn’t wish to find.
