Rep Buzz - Rape Board

Isn't it funny how just a few short weeks ago we looked at Louise's rep of 600 and we didn't even know what would happen because it was unprecedented?
Now Innocent has 1746!

I'd never had more than 250 before, now it's over 1000.

ahh but if someone with high rep gives you then you will get more!
ie if i give out rep now to anyone i give 174 points! or take them away of course!

Seem's that rep has lost its meaning as it goes up based on a percentage, i feel it would be better if it only went up say 20 points regardless how high the rep is of the person the person is repping you, then it would show how popular with the masses rather than how popular with the persons with the highest rep counts on the board

Amazingly...i agree with CH on this one.

If someone new joins, is given good rep by two long term, high rep members they are instantly rewarded with a stupidly high rep mark...or alternatively, if I decided to pick on a relative new comer, their rep would be decimated pretty quickly and then everyone would assume that member is a nut job or something.

Perhaps a compromise, a certain increase in rep giving power as you stay longer and get higher rep yourself...but not at this current level. Its gotten so i dont really give neg or pos rep anymore.

In the days of rep starting out i think i must have around 30+ positive reps to my name by now, Innocent, sodo, somedude, kinky and alot of others would have the same amonut of positive reps to there name, I gave rep to a newbie once, they went from 10 to like 160 odd, hell if four of us gave rep to a noob they would be close to 1000, this is a mis-representation on how popular they are, I now stop giving reps out to noobs because of the power my level has.

Is there anyway that points awarded can be capped??

there possibly might be a way to change rep points set up but would need admin type access to change part of the code.

possibly try contacting the site where you got the rep point system from.

See it should be based on the amount of the postive reps a member has to there name not the amount of the rep the person has giving it to you.

LOL...certain people believe im a rep whore. i am not...I think our rep should be capped at 1000...and once you pass 1000 you get a special prize...

i agree and have to admit it puts me off giving new members rep when ling term members will then be n a similar level as a newbie.
admin can change but he's not an easy chap to get hold of.
and we already have a long list of jobs for him witheveryone being so good at coming up with ways to improve stuff round here lol
i'll add this thread to his list tho and see what he can do

As an admin of my own site I know rep or as it is called on my site Karma can be, to have it given at such a high number is crazy to me. On my site they only get a few points of Karma each time someone hits them with it and this is more a fair system because it lets my members know people like and value them. To have it based as it is here is crazy because people at a lower level can surpass with just a few rep hits then someone who has been here longer and though it is not age of their membership that matters but their quality and participation all rep should be done equally at a set number.
