1) I wouldn't mind moderating a German forum since my German is good enough to say and understand anything. But how many languages do we want and how many moderators would we need to manage to forums?

2) I think opening separate language forums would only make members who don't speak that specific language miss some of the good stuff happening there. That would be a shame and unnecessary.

3) Creating specific forum for specific languages opens up a certain amount of racism. What language is popular/important enough to get its own forum? How many members of a specific native language does it take to get them their own forum? Who's going to make that decision? Do you see my point?

4) I can understand people speaking bad English asking for a forum in their native language. I've been in the position of living in a country barely speaking the people's native language. But being forced to talk and read in that language (in our case English) only emproves your skill (and forces a higher amount of brain activity onto you).

5) English is not the best possible language choice because it's my native language - I'm not one of those people either, but it is (like it or not) the language most people are able to communicate in. So I think having this board entirely (and exclusively) in English does the job quite well.

Having read through this thread, I thought I would mention a few points from my experience.

I ran a large, international community for many years on a sports-related subject where online leagues/teams and individual competitive events were arranged. Our board was the only one around where everyone was welcome who wanted to join... we didn't exclude anyone based on skill level/expertise or according to what country they lived in or which language they spoke.

There were countless other little groups (outside our community) that players could join and every one of those turned into snobbish little "private" clubs where new members were accepted by invitation-only.... or some exclusionary review committee would screen applicants to decide if they were "good enough" to play the same game. If you weren't an expert in the game, then you weren't welcome there. If you weren't from the same country as them, you weren't welcome there. And so on... All those little elitist groups and the overly-nationalisitic groups turned against each other in insanely vicious rivalries which, of course, set people against each other and interfered with them enjoying the game at all.

The atmosphere in our group was completely different... it had the sweetest, most charming cosmopolitan feeling because the members came from all walks of life.. rich and poor, who spoke different languages, and who lived in all parts of the world. We had large numbers of Aussies, Kiwis, Spaniards, Brits, Italians, Germans, French, Norwegians.... and they all participated together at a single board which was English-only.

As our little group grew over time and got larger.. more successful overall.. much more culturally diverse, we always considered the same question that was posed here: Should we create sub-forums within the board based on language? We were always tempted to do just that (to make it easier for our members who couldn't read/write in English very well) but we never did.. and I think that was very important. This brought us so many other benefits.

We still had active, participating members who struggled very hard reading though our posts written in English. But that's what they did, and within a few months after they joined, they were amazed how much easier it was to understand what we were talking about. We were always surprised how fast we learned to understand them, too. (Even when they used the most broken English.. which has a charm of it's own.)

The people were welcome to post something in French or Portuguese if they wanted as long as they also included the same thing translated into English. Usually.. if they couldn't translate the meaning themselves, someone else in the group who spoke both languages would step in to help out -- which meant that what they had to say mattered to us and it didn't got lost or buried in some subforum the rest of us never looked at. There were also online translators available, which can be funny as hell... but those still work to convey the basic meaning intended. That's enough to still make it worth doing. It still keeps people together in the same threads.

There were many times I might post something serious that was hysterically funny to all the Italians in the group (or Germans or Aussies...). Then I'd find out some unknown little joke or another meaning attributed to the words/phrases I used when somebody finally explained it to me. Again, this all happened in our threads for everyone to see and we all enjoyed the fun.. we all learned so much from each other. You just don't get that kind of dynamic interaction in a group where the members can divide themselves into little subgroups based on language/nationality.

Now.. when I found this board, I was surprised... first of all... that it wasn't some kind of pay-only porn site. And then I realized it was wide open to public view even to non-members. And while this deals only with fantasy rape between consenting adults... this is still a very explicit topic that people are afraid to talk about openly. I think it's that open, honest, and unashamed quality of this site that makes it so inviting to people like me who stumble into this board while browsing around. And that character of the group itself is what prompted me to join when I could have otherwise just read through all your stories, looked at the images, and downloaded some movies without saying a word.
