Well, I went to a Festival Of Remembrance on Sunday and sat near the front looking up at the stage where all the Services personnel were. Speaking of the Salvation Army, while not strictly based in reality, the red uniform worn by Jean Simmons (as Sergent Sarah Brown) in the film version of Guys and Dolls has always been one I've found endlessly appealing. It's snug fit and yet painfully demure style practically begs to unwrapped like a Christmas gift.

I still recall the scene where Brando gets her drunk. Of course, he takes the noble path and keeps his hands largely to himself. If it had been me, that poor little preacher girl would have woken up the next morning bent over with her arms tied around a palm tree, that tight skirt hiked around her waist and her panties down to her knees, and her ass spanked as bright a shade of red as her uniform.

Bank tellers also have a special place in my heart, thanks to the uniforms worn by the young women in one bank back in my old home town. They didn't look as if they had updated since the 60s, with their white blouses, coats with triangle shoulder pads, shoe-string ties, hip-hugging skirts, and high heeled shoes. The color was never universal, but the style was. It helped even more that, either by choice or requirement, the women all wore extremely well applied make-up and kept their hair pulled up.

I had spoke to one of the girls once at length by a bus stop late at night and she admitted to me that she and most of the girls actually liked the uniform because it made them feel attractive, but she was worried that it might lead her to be attacked one day. We were alone at the time and she was relaxed around me, but I doubt she would have been if she realized the sort of images her confessing that set off in my mind.

Sadly they did away with the uniforms shortly before I moved out of that town, replacing them with what seems to be the norm these days - clean, sensible, and yet utterly plain and boring professional clothing. I've seen a few who were uniforms that look very nice, but they're never anything as special as those were.

You did'nt say what era that was?
Did you think that the girl you spoke to was also wearing a fullslip underneath her uniform?

I worked for a UK bank called Barclays bank in the mid 80's and the uniform was similar with knee length blue skirt, jackets with shoulder pads, white tie neck blouses, nude pantyhose and heels. The blouses were very sheer so most of the girls wore a fullslip underneath (popular back then) to cover their bra and retain their modesty, despite the skirt being lined. Not sure how that was supposed to work because back then all fullslips had lace trim on the top and adjustable ribbon straps which sat next to bra straps or fell down so they showed under their short sleeved blouses. Like yours the girls had their hair up and make-up and looked demure yet sexy, in my eyes and many others, feminine and proud of it.
Sadly, one girl , not at our branch, was actually attacked one night as she walked home , stalked for a distance then grabbed and pulled into some bushes. Her attacked stripped her, tearing to shreds and ruining her uniform jacket, lined skirt, blouse, lace trimmed fullslip, bra, panties and pantyhose and attempted to rape her but was scared off by a passing couple. Some years later the police arrested her attacker who was known as the railway rapist because he attacked girls near railway stations at night .
It was reported in detail in a newspaper called "News of the world" in the uk before restrictions on content were put in placeand also featured details of another of his victims. She was only 19 and attacked and pulled to the ground but had her clothes cut off with a knife and it described how her blouse, skirt, fullslip (actually even said he cut the straps of her fulllslip) etc were cut off in the attack. These days you just would not get that level of detail.

T'was the 80s as well and to be honest, the thought of a full slip had never occurred to me but now that you mention it, I suspect they wore one too. Their uniforms were almost identical to the ones you describe, which likely meant the blouses too sheer to go without something underneath.

The thing I remember most vividly about the uniforms was how exquisitely proper and tight their appearance was. The term "poured in" truly applied and I couldn't imagine any way to get them out of those uniforms in any way that didn't involve cutting them out (and heaven knows I imagined getting them out of those uniforms every time I was in there).

Ah yes, I remember it well!

We had grey pleated skirt, white blouse, tie, long white socks and black low heeled shoes. And blackouts - detention for wearing non regulation knickers (although I am sure some of you could devise a more appropriate punishment for such a misdemeanor) And a blazer. We were allowed to wear tights in the depths of winter, but not otherwise.

Summer uniform was a blue and white gingham dress, again with socks and sandals.

My uniform used to start off a bit too big, and I had to wear it until I had all but outgrown it, before passing it on to my sister.

Since this thread is active again, and since the nurse uniform pictures that I posted years ago are deleted, I Googled to see if I could find some good new uniform pictures, particularly of the see-through white pants. I couldn’t, but I found a lot of forum threads of women complaining about being forced to wear the white pants and the “pervs” that only manufacture see-through white pants, and their methods of dealing with it.
