Even as I push the dish away from me across the table, I realize you never gave me a fork or knife to eat with.

I suppose I'm dimly remembering stories from childhood. Persephone ate in the home of her rapist and so she had to stay. Or if you eat or drink in the land of the fairies they'll claim you as their own, never to be seen for years.

Granted, there's some plain old stubbornness in there too.

I go to the basement and get some long pieces of rope and a metal keg of my special moonshine. I tie the rope around each end of the keg and then go back upstairs. I walk in; smile at you and then toss the end of each rope over the large beam in the ceiling.

I know that you removed your collar but know that before I am done with you, you will be begging for it to be around your neck. I hoist the keg in the air about 2 feet off the floor. I tioe the ropes tight and then give the keg a gentle push. Watching it swing back and forth, I smile and look at you.
