For those who might not be aware, there is a sticky thread in the Pics and Movies section where we can report problematic posts including spam:

By posting links to the offending post, or member profile of the user, it's fairly straightforward for the mods to delete it. In the case of spambots, the link to the member profile is the quickest way. CR and baur have often said that by posting the links in one place, rather than make them go looking for the problems, we make it easy for them to clean up the forum. The thread originally started as a place to report problems with inappropriate movies and such, but expanded to include all the spam to the forum.

Ah, the Loan family are a different breed of spammer Darksyde. I don't think they actually post do they? Just their profiles provide the spam. Still, not like they're difficult to spot eh? Just log in and there they are on the front page for all to see.

Spam threads are pretty easy to spot too, spend a few weeks here and they're instantly recognisable. It's the spam within legitimate threads that is difficult to spot as I'm sure the moderators don't have the time or inclination to monitor every thread. That is where spam reporting comes in most useful.

Having said that, I should probably report a bit myself, but not being able to provide links until I acquired my latest phone, I never got in to the habit.

FR, up until yesterday, what you said was true. The loan bots didn't post in threads, but merely took advantage of the birthday list. However, yesterday, one of the loan bots posted an introduction thread in the member introductions section. And it wasn't just a random spam post, but an actual introduction! Unfortunately, many bots can be repurposed. All they need is for their master to feed them new instructions and new scripts to follow.

Anyway, yes, it's pretty easy to spot the spam posts. But, the mods have said that posting the links all in one thread makes their job that much easier, so I try to do my part.

How about we do more? These guys all have links in their profiles. Go to the hosting providers and get these sites shut down. Since hosting costs money, and getting banned from a domain is very inconvenient, this will be hitting them where it hurts.

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way, menace. There are scores of hosting providers who don't care at all about complaints, etc. Spammers are paying them many times the going rate for hosting to turn a blind eye.

And a lot of them are in countries outside of the control of the EU and US..a lot of them are outside the control of their own governments as well
