Agreed. I used to have a friend who kept like bolts or nails or something in his pocket to toss on the road when people got too close. I don't know that he ever actually USED them, but that's what he told me. I worked in a motorcycle shop for a handful of years in my 20s.

Motorcyclists often slow by downshifting or merely rolling off the throttle, thus not activating the brake light. Allow more following distance, say 3 or 4 seconds. At intersections, predict a motorcyclist may slow down without visual warning.

Allow more following distance behind a motorcycle because it can't always stop "on a dime".
