Rapists & Victims, are you religious?
I suddenly wondered, are you guys religious? Me myself, I am atheist. That does not make me feel I'm outside the bounds of rules, of course. I feel strongly about freedom and respect, for instance, and yet... having rapist fantasies. How does 'treating a woman like a slut' fit within it? I've come to the conclusion that by defining 'fantasy' and 'roleplay' it becomes constricted within a bubble. I keep surprising me in how decent man I am after all.
Anyways, what about you folks? |

Atheist here.
Though technically since I can't claim that I've looked at all religions to compare against my current beliefs I should say agnostic, and I usually do, but since it wasn't a choice... My basic philosophy arises from my own personal beliefs about how I perceive the world. There is no god, there is no life after death. Life's short and there is only the here and now, so we should enjoy it to our full ability as best as we can. |

Interesting question and would be more so still with a larger sample to draw results from. As for myself relative to your poll the only logical answer was "None of the Above". I need no church or organized religion to tell me what to think or what to believe. To try and explain my beliefs here would take far longer than I am willing to sit at a keyboard and type So I will say simply that my beliefs are a hybrid of some others.
An agnostic-spiritualist I suppose would be close to my thinking in a very rudimentary way. I often contemplate who we are and the nature of our world and environment, from my musings I have formed my own thinking which provides the lens through which I view the world. There are certain elements of our humanity which are within everyone regardless of their choice of religions, how they choose to act on them is far more important than what belief system they profess to follow. Cheers all from the Stainless Steel Rat

I am a Christian. I firmly believe in the pressence of God and his son Jesus Christ. As for where my fantasies fit into the whole thing. I believe that life is a gift to be enjoyed with other people who are enjoying them. I am not really hurting anyone, I am simply enjoying the fantasy. I do not believe God will have any problem with that. If i am wrong.. well..I guess I am in trouble when the end comes

I'm Pagan, specifically Wiccan. I'm actually an ordained minister through ULC, and have formed my own church, the Claire de Lune Society of Wicca.
Now, before anyone pulls me up and says "Hey, Jim, Wiccans are supposed to shun rape because it violates the core tenets of your faith!", bear in mind that rape RP, as anyone with half a brain knows, is a world away from real rape. As long as it remains a simulation in which all acts are performed consensually with a minimum of actual harm to all parties, then it's OK. If I were to rape for real, the Goddess would no doubt kick my sorry perverted ass. Last edited by Trill; 09-26-2008 at 11:57 AM. Reason: adding stuff |

I voted Christian.
Was raised Catholic, went to parochial school for elementary and high school, started to question it's teachings in my late teens. Now I'd describe myself as spiritual, my beliefs are not specific to any one religion. |

I was raised christian, lutheran to be specific, however, a bag of mushrooms consumed while sitting on steps leading to a church when i was 16 changed all that and now i would have to vote with atheist.

Unknown Entity
|
I am what a friend of mine calls "a recovering Christian".
I went to Catholic girl's school and was raised Catholic but I grew out of any supernatural beliefs. I consider myself a scientist, agnostic/atheist since I personally do not believe in the existence of any supernatural entity one still simply cannot - objectively speaking - neglect at least the possibility they might exist.

Why? Let's take for example the fact that catholics don't ONLY pray to God, whereas most christians DO, Jews and Muslims as well. The second testament is supposedly an update to the first, and muslims claim their Quoran to be yet another update..
My argument may be false, but it's okay... not like god exists. |

Pagan here as well. It would take several long (and to most - boring) paragraphs to explain exactly what I follow - so I will refrain.
