However, joke flaming aside (because it's boring; I only do it with children, and there is nobody younger than me on this site) why not just do some port-sniffing, or a little shelling, and steal the files from the server yourself? I'm not sure there would be a faster download anywhere than on the site it was probably made.

EDIT: TO, you're actually an idiot. No, I was not threatening to tear down the site. From my experience, those two things (shock porn out of nowhere, and hack threats) is the worst thing for a webmaster to have to see.

Not really. I'm 18. I bet I'm half your age. I'm also not above this, because I'm posting in it. Every single forum I've been to (some 100-member size, one 160,000 member size) prohibits all Staff members from flaming. Anywhere, and against anyone. I didn't run those forums either.

And I don't care if you like shock porn; I don't. And anyone who uses boards that don't have a somewhat sadistic attitude to that don't either. Neither do the forums whom have the knowledge of 13-14-15 year olds browsing their threads. This is the first site I have ever been to that has age restrictions on it; I should have known it would be full of angry old men.

In defense of the mod who moved it, not me, but I don't know who did, have an idea; dude Though could have been Grm. Anyways in defense, threads that start out like this one have a very good chance of ending up with flame material in them so hence moving it to the Rowdy Room was a logical thing to do. Now I must say that I think there are probably better or at least as good as, filesharing sites. I think Sexuploader, now Megarotic, is actually quite good. I've used it and had very little problems, no site is going to be perfect.

I've also used RS a lot more for the same reasons that Clan Hunter mentioned. If you pay for a premium account then you can download as many files, simultaneously, as you want or your pc will allow.

I don't currently have a premium account but that's due to not having the extra bucks to spend on it right now. However, for those who seem to think the time limits have disappeared, wrong, they're still there. At least they are for me.

I don't like megaupload, getfile, deposit files, or file factory. All of the above suck far worse than RS and getfile may be the worst of the bunch.

Sodoman, I intended no criticism of its move to the Rowdy Room. My intent was solely to correct TO's assumption that the poster had placed it there. Consequently, there isn't anything or anyone that needs to be defended. BTW Sodo, I may seriously investigate some of the alternatives to RS that you mentioned when I can no longer renew my RS premium account using accummulated points. TO is quite correct in his assertion that it's foolish to pay for a product or service when it is available at no cost elsewhere.

Jesus. Not sure I’ve ever people so opinionated and so clueless at the same time. Even though this is the rowdy room, I’m not here to flame anyone. Just want to make a few points.

First, I’m 31, so you can add me to the list of members who aren’t “angry old men.”

Second, the only board I’ve ever been on with age restrictions, besides this one, is three other rape boards and pretty much every other sex oriented site I’ve ever seen.

Third. RapidShare isn’t perfect. It isn’t shit either. Most of the reasons why people use RapidShare have already been explained, so I won’t repeat them. I would add that another reason for using RS versus say, uploadyourwankermovies.com is, you can use RS to host NON PORN type flies as well. It kind of makes life simpler to have everything in one place. Whether or not a RS premium account is worth the cost really is an individual choice. In my mind, you’d have to have a high speed connection and do a good deal of downloading in order to justify the expense. I do have a premium account for just that reason. That and the fact that RS is by far the most commonly used file hosting site.

Fourth, making screaming posts demanding that others stop using RS or telling people they are stupid for using it in the first place is hardly productive. An analogy, Microsoft owns the PC world. Most people use Windows. Most people use Office. If someone sends me a document, odds are, I’m going to need MS Word to open that document. If you don’t have Word, then your best option is to go to the MS website and download the free Word viewer. It is not helpful to scream from the rooftops demanding that everyone else in the world use the same software that you do.

Fifth, yes on most forums, staff members are not permitted to flame anyone. But, most forums don’t have a board specifically devoted to flaming. This one does.

Sixth, I am at an utter and complete loss as to how P2P is an answer to this. People use something like RS because you can upload the file to THEIR server, get a link and be done with it. In order to use P2P, you and the person your sending the file to have to both be using the same P2P program and both be online at the same time. Also, you both have to be semi-computer literate in order set it up properly.

Seven, Megaupload is often suggested as an alternative. Megaupload is VERY slow and does not offer the same advantages to the person doing the uploading that RS does. I realize of course this is of no concern for people who think the rest of the world has a moral obligation to provide them with an unlimited supply of free porn.
