I enjoy logging in. It's not always as active as I'd like, but I am comfy here and I like spending time with the gang, every once in a while getting into a good discussion.

I agree with BTN, overall it's a great community.

For me it is all about time available online. After a year and a half of brutal hours at work I've finally gotten some time after hours. I do enjoy coming over here because I never know what to expect. I'm not too much of a fan of the movies threads but the rest of the place seems lively enough all things considered.

About posting though. There are times I get in here and make several responses. Then when I look at the main page I see my name all over the place as the last poster. While I like to think it makes the place a bit more lively I also don't like it when it appears that someone is posting to each thread to get their post count up. I'm not sure how others feel about that but that is how I feel about it.

I can empathize with you there. I myself wasn't sure, and am still not sure what the community thinks of me.

The way I look at it, everyone will have their opinions. Some will appreciate the extra content and others might not. It's not a bad thing, cause life would be boring if everyone saw eye to eye on everything.

I myself will not change my posting style, just cause it might have a bad connotation put on it(not saying that you do that). If and when the community gets more lively(which it appears to be now), then it wont be noticed, cause your name or my name wont be the only name people see when they first log in.

I come less than I used to because the average quality of the posts seems to have declined.

There are still some of the older guys posting the same great stuff, but there are a bunch of new people re-posting old stuff on for-pay hosting sites like Oron. They constantly bump their own threads with more duplicate content, so I find myself having to weed through a lot of this garbage to find the "good" stuff.

And the crappy Russian vids are simply out-of-control.

Suggestions:
- create a "Russian" video board and require that all other boards be Russian-free
- ban Oron and Filesonic as hosting sites

Those changes alone would vastly improve the board. All IMHO, of course.

So: 93% of my sample was outright SPAM or people flooding the board with content on hosting sites which pay uploaders.

One of those threads is by a person who has been a member for 5 months and has managed a whopping 2200 posts in that time. And his rep is 10. Ten. One-Zero. Why would someone put so much effort into posting when they are being shown no love at all by the audience?

Of the most current 15 threads, there was only 1 that seems like a legitimate contribution. So I had to weed through 15 threads to find 1 "real" thread.

This is not enjoyable, and I find myself coming here less and less.

Oh man does that touch a chord with me. I have been trying to fight these profiteers for awhile now. I'm sick of it. Newbies posting nothing but easy to find, and crap, Russian videos over and over and over again. And yes, using shit filehosts like oron and fileserve which emphasize making money but make you wait hours between downloads unless you want to pay for an account.
It's rediculous and out of hand.
But apparently Adminsky has given the order they are to be left alone unless they actually break a written rule.
i have tried to call attention to this and no one says shit.
I have been calling them on their BS in their threads and I get comments by newbs who say they like it.

Well, the board has indeed gone a bit to hell with all this. We used to have some great posters who actually understood the notion of "member" and contributing.
But if this is how Admin wants it... it's his call I guess.

I'm hoping the Oron thing collapses soon. As a download host it's horrible for free users, and even paid users are complaining about it. If the people who pay you money are bitching about you, you've got a problem. Then again, Rapidshare has managed to stay in existence while continually pissing off its paid users (like me).

Oron totally ruined another previously-epic forum I used to visit, and another pretty good forum has recently instituted a 1 post per thread per day limit, which I read as a blatant attempt to cut down on Oron posts. Thing is, 1 post per day is all you need to keep bumping threads to the top, so decent threads get lost in noise.

The board goes thru cycles. Sometimes it's slower than this, sometimes more active. Several prolific posters have left recently, and while some of them were icons and can never really be replaced, in time someone will step up and things will balance out a bit.

In the meantime I urge everyone to encourage Linzi and Karen to at long last give us a good boob shot of themselves. If that doesnt perk up the board then nothing will.
