The trouble is FR, for a common market to work you need a level playing field on things such as taxes, movement of goods and even safety laws, or it would still be tipped against one country.

And when he says most of us, he means the right wing press like the Sun and the Daily Mail and those that let them do their thinking for them.

I am not a great fan of the EU, however, the alternatives as laid out by morons like UKIP are even dumbing? A deal like Norway? Outside the EU but still able to trade? Well yes, that sounds nice, except for the facts that, firstly, Norway still has to accept the same laws as the member states, they just have no vote whatsoever in what they are, and secondary, the EU is working to put pressure on them, and the others which are part of the same trading block, to become full members of the EU. Lastly, why the fuck would the EU allow us to have a deal like this? We've wandered off in a huff and told them we're not friends anymore, but we still want to play in their games, if that was one of the other states I am sure the bun and the bail would be screaming blue bloody murder over it.

Another reason, there are a number of companies that have factories in the UK as gateways into the EU, Nissan as a major example, that Chinese company that has bought out MG, the same with Jag and Land Rover now, all it would take is some kind of threatened trade sanctions from the EU against us and they would be off quicker than you could say UKIP. Leaving little old Britain all alone in the big bad world with no one to play with.

This is not the 1940's, we do not have a huge Empire to fall back on for trade, oh wait a minute, when we tried that after WWII it went wrong, the wrong goods were being made and being outsold by originally American than lately Asian goods.

The EU, like it or not, is our only real chance, and the only way we can ever get anywhere with it is to grow up, except that the past is just that, the past, and plunge in and make some sensible demands.
