Personally i think that scratching is sort of a girlie thing. Now if the scratches come from being tossed about or dragged over a rough surface that is OK.
I would rather see bruises, and know that she took a couple or more good hits which caused them. Especially if the hits are to soft tissue areas, boobs, side of boob where is meets the chest. When done right both can cause those injuries that ache severely when lightly touched.
