The vote is open so we can ensure certain banned members don't rig it. That is the only reason. Whether or not it influences people doesn't really matter - MDS didn't want this thread up and is VERY stubborn, so she's probably already made her mind up anyway. It's only really here to show her that plenty of people do still want her here on RB.
