Apart from leading an anti-EU block of parties in the European parliament, Farage has never wielded any real political power. At least not in a way he could sort any mess out. He wuite simply entered politics to get the UK out of the EU.
If there is a mess to sort out, it is the mess made by David Camerons government, which introduced legislation to hold a referendum on our EU membership, and which undertook to act upon the result. It is he that walked away from it when he didn't like the result, leaving a mess for others to sort out.
