The inquest in to the 1974 Birmingham pub bombings has concluded that 21 people were unlawfully killed, and that blunders in the IRA phoning in a warning contributed to those deaths.

So much has been written in this thread about how the IRA didn't intend to kill people, but the simple fact is, if the bombs were never planted in places like Birmingham, or in for example, Omagh, then people would never have died, and it is only happenstance that saw 200 odd injuries in Manchester, instead of many dead.

For the majority of British people, this is why the "peace" process is so baffling. That a British government would sign off on giving a free pass to terrorists, of any ilk, yet still allow the persecution (I use that word deliberately, because if justice is not handed out equitably, then a prosecution become persecution) of British soldiers involved in operations in Northern Ireland.
