Ok, put aside the quality of presidential candidates for a moment. Whatever the narrative of the Republican and Democratic candidates, they are effectively different shades of conservative, the noise coming out of America now after eight years of Obama is no different than when Bush or Clinton were on the job.

In the U.K, television media only began the habit of live electoral debates in 2010. It immediately changed our stagnant political landscape. The Lib Dems were suddenly a party of government! Then in the 2014 European elections Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage went head to head live on television. UKIP became the first party other than Conservative or Labour to win a national election for over 100 years. And on it went. Lib Dems sent in to oblivion in 2015, with UKIP the third biggest party by vote, the SNP third largest by seats. Then the unthinkable happens. Despite the massed arguments of the political establishment and rising political parties, Labour, Conservative, Lib Dem, SNP, Green, Sinn Fein, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, Merkel, Hollander, the United Kingdom votes to leave the European Union!

None of these things would have happened had the media chosen to censor political debate simply on the grounds of approval rating. Before the debates began UKIP were often lucky to keep their deposits!

Yet the nation that prides itself on freedom, democracy, freedom of speech, freedom of political and religious expression chooses to stand for one of its most powerful institutions censoring political debate. It doesn't matter how credible are the prospects of a Green or Libertarian candidate. They are standing, and ought to be heard. Other wise you are living in a hell of your own making, and you deserve the corrupt, entrenched political class that you have. You may just as well be North Korea or Soviet era Eastern Europe for all that your supposed freedom and democracy does for you!
