Compared to the movement to free the United Kingdom of non-democratic federalist tyranny, "Texit" is a fledgling movement. By the time we see any real move toward strong support for this, Trump will be irrelevant.

The cost of border security is only relevant if the assumption continues that Mexicans are neither welcome, or needed. The United Kingdom has two land borders, one with Ireland, and one with Spain. Both are relatively relaxed compared with many international borders, and the economies and communities of all the nations benefit from this. Some 30 000 workers cross daily unhindered from Spain to work in Gibraltar, then go home at night. I'm sure you'll agree that the open border between Ireland and the United Kingdom benefits all the residents of the British Isles?

A Texas open to Mexican workers would enable them to cross daily to work, rather than having to sneak in and work illegally. It would attract investment, and also allow families to stay together rather than be split. The burden would still fall on the USA to secure its border if it felt necessary to continue to persecute Mexicans needlessly just to appease its voters.
