So, a year on from the resignation of Martin McGuinness that led to the breakdown of power sharing in Stormont.

More than any thing, since the devolved region of Northern Ireland has functioned without a government, I'm wondering, what is the point of government?

OK, so the eventual solution isn't perfect. James Brokenshire imposed a budget and left civil servants to get on with it. Not exactly democratic is it?

On the other hand, public services haven't broken down, and neither has the Good Friday agreement. A community lacking in social cohesion, capable of descending in to sectarian violence at any moment seems to be getting along fine without any help at all from the political influences that have divided towns and cities for decades.
