New reports here state that Missisippi has removed To Kill a Mocking Bird from state school reading lists. Because the book contains the word "nigger". Except, being the political class, they can't actually use the word "nigger", stating instead because the book contains "the N word", and leaving us all to guess just what new offence we're all being protected from.
Apparently the word "nigger" might upset some one. Surely that is their own tough shit? I'm sure Harper Lee meant no harm when she sat down at her typewriter.
Oh, and just in case I hadn't got my point across. Nigger.
