The UK parliament has tonight voted in favour of legislation that would legalise abortion in Northern Ireland if it passed in to law. The bill will not progress further due to lack of parliamentary time.

Naturally, the DUP condemned the move, as abortion in the province has long been considered a devolved matter. Sinn Fein, which supports abortion (so long as the province has the same laws as Ireland), but rejects laws made in Westminster, were not reported to have commented.
