Have to say, I saw this reported in the news as well and I was just as confused as you. In the NHS a brand new nurse on her or his first day at work will be making £20,000 a year.
I have never made this kind of money reliabily. But I live within my means. I have never needed to use a food bank, I have never been unable to pay bills. I have never, in short, been in need of more money. I'd like some, but never needed any.
I know a few nurses and suppport workers and I can tell you one think for sure. Lots of nurses are alcoholic party girls who want all of the material things in life.
