Run Away Princess (Derick and Tragedy)
 

Darith silently stared out the window, it was dark already, and their was only a couple small fires that could be seen from the window. He looked out toward the slums of Alcatha. Alcatha, the city of coin, where ones value was determined by the amount of money one had, or the amount of money one could make. Fortunes were made and lost over night in this city. The slums held those who had no where else to go, merchants losing everything on a bad trade, nobles and their servants who loosing their fortunes with no where else to go. Alcatha stood entirely interdependent, as the center of the trade between three separate Kingdoms, entirely neutral, but having enough accumulated wealth due to trade, artisans, lottery, and slaves.

Darith, was in a simple position, a Captain in the city guard, he ran a small guardhouse just on the border between the merchant districts and the slums on the outside of the city. While definitely not a glorious position, Darith knew that it was a safe position. Lives where cheap, and the city guard could be replaced fairly easily. Darith had positioned himself well, he had a small amount of money, and a small number of well connected merchants that owed him favors. He command men, and was left alone to do his job for the most part. While the slums was not a glorious position to work, he could do what he wanted to those who lived in the slums, so he was never short on entertainment.
