Small Outage?
 

I know RB was down for a while and when it came back up we were about 30 days behind.

But has anyone had any trouble staying logged in. I look at a post or two and click to move along then get the dreaded 404.

Im going to just reboot my system and router hoping thats the trouble.

Haven't had any trouble staying logged in myself but that is a problem some members have with RB from time to time!
As for the crash we didn't lose any posts, just everyone lost a month of rep points!

I was having a quite nice conversation trough PMs when RB let me down.

Any idea what the cause was? This seems to happen "often" in RB

It was some sort of database error. Don't know the details.

looks like the loss of data was in the user profiles then. The strange thing is the rep comments are still there for the most recent reps but not the points. I notice some PM's are still there but some have been lost. I also have about 15 posts fewer than before but I'm not sure where exactly they were from. It's not the same as the last crash where there was a clear cut line where the backup was used. Here the data loss seems more random in where it occurred

I didn't lose any PMs but lost profile messages and it looks like everyone lost profile messages. I didn't see any of my recent posts missing so it might just be the post count data is incorrect. It looks like the database for our user profiles was lost and had to be restored from a back about a month old while the database for posts and such and even PMs was not lost.

As far as I know we lost profile messages, rep points and post count not the post themselves.

Just as a side note, the rebooting my router seems to have fixed my 404 problem.

The rep points well ,Shit Happens.

The only bad thing is a months worth of spammers being purged is gone :)

i (think) lost about 150 to 200 posts on the count , but i didn't lose any of the actual posts that i could remember . go figure ??? maybe just the post count reset ?

i also lost rep , but that is a minor thing to me . as for the PM's , i delete mine fairly regular so .... hard for me to say if any are gone .

hopefully everybody will get their stuff back , especially Karen <3 <3 <3

I logged in today and was shocked to see that my rep went from 7000+ to 5925 and post count from 621 to 614 for no apparent reason. But I did not lose any PMs, posts, or rep messages.

There were claims that the same thing happened last summer (but I didn't witness it myself as I was on vacation at the time), and it was caused by hackers who fucked with this board. Exactly right! Sucks that everyone lost rep points and profile messages and their posts counts are off but no one lost any posts and that is a very good thing compared to some of the total disaster crashes we've had.

i noticed i made 2 posts and my post count jumped about 150 :)

also did 1 PM and that count rose 10 ...

and SD is right the important stuff is still here . the board and the great members of RB (if they want to be)

You are right, my postcount has been updated as well. I think it'll be the same with rep points.

I'm the same but I know some people do like to track their rep and others hold the rep system in quite high regard so it must be a major annoyance to some. I hope the points in someway are restored. If not its up to us to refill everyones coffers!
