National Stereotypes
 

I know that all nations hold stereotypical views of other nations so I thought it would be interesting to see the different ones from both sides. I'll kick off with some English stereotypes, 'coz I'm English:

NB These are not my opinions, I am merely documenting the comonly held stereo-types :skull-sai .

The Irish are stupid
The Scotts are alcoholic
The French are dirty
The Spanish are Lazy
The Belgians are boring
The Dutch are stoners
The US Americans are arrogant
The Italians are cowards

I know these peoples aren't really like this but what do they think of others?
(BTW I know the French think the English are Homosexual, that's just because we wash! :D )

From an American Perspective:

French people are stupid (but thanks for the fattening food!)
Spanish people are stupid (but thanks for GOOD food)
British people are stupid (but thanks for a good jumping off point for the "real" Engish language)
German people are stupid (but thanks for NASA).
Italian people are stupid (but thanks for the Sopranos)
Indian people are stupid (but thanks for the Slushies)
Belgian people are stupid (but thanks for the waffles)
Japanese people are stupid (but thanks for all those nifty electronics)
Russian people are stupid (but I know its too cold for you guys to go to school regularly, so its alright).
Panamanian people are stupid (but thanks for letting us cut your country in half for our boats)
Chinese people are THE BEST!! (PLEASE don't take your money out of our economy!!)
Mexicans are stupid (But thanks for cutting our grass).
Canadians are stupid (and since they can't read, it doesn't matter what I say here)

all middle easterners are terrorists (or some degree thereof)
-ps i was gunna put "arabs" in place of "middle easterners" but that would leave out the persians and egyptians...then of
course also that would leave out the Israelis who are considered by many american arabs to be terrorists...god stereotypes are stewpid :P

Chinese people are good at math and science, and bad drivers.

I'm horrible at math and science, and a horrible driver. Lol!

Remember the point is to see how one nation thinks of others. Just saying "Welshmen dress funny" doesn't serve the purpose unless you tell us where you're from!

I agree with the Asians are not good at math and science. lol and the bad drivers one.. maybe SOME.

OK, I very rarely post here, because basically I'm way too busy to do anything except check in for new stuff 5 and 10 minutes at a time and be a leeching lurker!
But this is way too fun not to participate. This is an Americans take on how we view other countries stereotypes of Americans:

• The French are stuck-up snobs, who hate Americans and think we are crude and unsophisticated
• The English think they have all the real Old-World sophistication and think that Americans are crass and rude
• The Germans think they have the best Engineering in the world (and they do) but they wish Americans would stop building Military bases in their country, marrying their women and staying forever, becoming Germans.
• The Italians love the IDEA of opportunity in America and want to move here, but wish Americans would stay the hell out of their country
• The Russians love EVERYTHING American (Blue Jeans, McDonalds, iPods) but hate the American people. They think we are crass, fat, stupid, overbearing bullies
• The Canadians LOVE Americans to cross their borders for vacations, shopping and tourism, but HATE us when we cross the border to take jobs away from them
• The Mexicans LOVE to cross the border to live in the US, but wish all us foreigners would get the hell out of THEIR country!
• The Native Americans are still just REALLY PISSED OFF!!! (I'm 1/4 Seneca, so I guess I can say that) :-)
