Blame Russia?
The perceived wisdom for the last couple of decades (ever since the South Park movie) has been that when ever some thing went wrong, it was all Canadas fault. Sure, we've tried to fob it off on other international nobodies, such as the French, Muslims, global warming, and Martians, but it has always come back to Canada. Until the last couple of weeks. Fuck those Snow Mexicans, seems like there is a new scapegoat in town, and his name is Ivan.
To date, Ivan has rigged both the United Kingdoms referendum on membership of the European Union, and the United States presidential election. Not to mention that my van won't start, and I've been working with Latvians this week. So what went wrong for you this week, that you most definitely can pin on Vlad the diminutive Impaler? (And by that I'm not implying that Emmy got fucked by President Putin, though I'm sure she wouldn't object if she did.) |
I blame Russia for the cold weather Las Vegas is having! Obviously Putin is using secret weather control technology to make the whole world cold like Russia...
|
Russia often got the blame for things. The fuckers dragged couldn't defeat the Germans without the free trucks and weapons we gave them in WWII, and still we had to get dragged into the fucking war. As soon as the war was over they didn't want to know us and they got to keep most of eastern Europe for 50 years. To add insult to injury, they rewrote the history books to make it look like they defeated the Germans on their own. The ungrateful cunts.

I'm holding Putin personally responsible for my hangover this morning.
|
I always hold all of Russia responsible if my hangover came from vodka!
|
I was drinking whiskey.

I recently saw a cartoon of Hilary Clinton riding a bicycle whilst holding a stick. In the second frame she puts the stick in the spokes of the bicycles front wheel. In the third frame she is seen lying on the floor, clutching herself as if in pain, and uttering a single word. "Russians."
|
That Putin fucker is Stalin reincarnated, but we are too far away to realize it or even to give two fucks. A buddy of mine is married to a girl from Poland and they travel there about once a year. He was telling me that the Poles and other east Europeans worry that ome day the Russians will roll into their countries and occupy them like they did after WW2.

Probably only geography and the slight inconvenience of being at war with Germany that prevented the Western allies from doing exactly the same thing.
|
UK defence secretary Michael Fallon is now accusing Russia of "weaponising information in order to undermine Western democracy". Reads as "the plebs have lost faith in us and we need a scapegoat".
|
"Weaponising information"
Does anyone else remember the propaganda of "Weapons of mass destruction"? |
Great marketing opportunity for cruise missiles that was!
|
Funny. Iraq. The accusation was that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. That was certainly true by the time Bush and Blair were done with it!

Unfortunately for us, the scandal didn't end there. A public inquiry in to the Iraq invasion, commissioned by Blairs successor Gordon Brown, ran in to years and cost millions of tax payers money, only to have its publication delayed by Blair himself. Then when Blair was found to have taken Britain to war on a lie, he escaped any actual criticism in the same inquiry.
Blair, the war criminal that got away. |
Sounds familiar somehow..... Hmmmm???
|
Well, the inquiry didn't in any way seek to accuse Putin, or Russia, for the failings of the British government or political establishment. So in the context of this thread, no, there is no feeling of familiarity. However, if there had been an inquiry in to the invasion o-f Afghanistan, then there may well have been a trail of blame back to Russia. After all, if they hadn't given up their military occupation, chances are there would have been no Taliban, and no Al-Quada.
Oh, wait. Didn't the West fund those fuckers too? :O |
Yes the West did fund them. Western meddlng in the Middle East for over 100 years is to blame for the mess we have today.

There has been a lot of news about failing public sector computer soft ware in the news in the last few years. Curiously, nobody has blamed Russian hackers yet. There has also been some concern about Chinese investment in nuclear energy in the UK. For some reason there hasn't been any mention of Russians in this either.
It seems that Russians only get the blame when democracy prevails. |
There has been some small mention of Russian involvement in software failings in our local news but nothing widespread. But seeing how we blame Russia for pretty much every other problem / issue it's only a matter of time. After all we would never want to blame the code writers for developing slip-shod software...
