Trump has introduced import tarifs for steel and aluminium, of 20% and 10% respectively.

Trump is an idiot.

Jean-Claude Junckers, who is the president of the European parliament, has criticised this move as “protectionist”. Pot, kettle, black any one?

Junckers is the bigger idiot!

Trump is much more than an idiot. He imposed the new tariffs while having a temper tantrum over unrelated events. He has the moral compass of a spoiled toddler, I want it, I see it , I get it.

Whilst there is no doubting Donald Trumps emotional deficiencies, that is not the point here.

Tariffs can work both ways, or does Trump think that other countries won't retaliate in kind?

Well, Trump has already responded to threats by the EU to respond in kind, by threatening to slap tariffs on cars.

He is right though, the EU is a hugely protectionist trade bloc, which is what makes Junckers own accusations so stupid. Let us examine the EU itself though, shall we? The 11 most successful economies, of which the UK is the 2nd largest, basically have to pay in to the EU for the privilege of trading with each other. So we can't even pretend that there is a borderless, custom-less trade situation going on within the EEA. Effectively, instead of nation states collecting duty at its borders, a supra-national organisation is collecting those tariffs.

Imagine if the WTO or the UN for example, decided it was going to tax nations according to the size of its economy....

The United Kingdom has very much sleep-walked in to this, and so much more of a power grab by the EU, and now we're being told that wanting to leave will destroy free trade, is fascistic, racist, damaging economically, will destroy human and workers rights, threaten international security.

It is a fucking nonsense, and people are worrying about Donald Trump wanting to redress the balance within your borders?
