It's "the rules". It's the rules, because they are arbitrary, and without any current legal basis, but a skeleton parliament is working hard to rush the legal basis through.

In the meantime, local authorities are concocting reasons to withdraw licenses to pubs that refuse to obey "the rules", because government has no authority in this matter.

Elections have been cancelled months ahead of time, instead of finding different methods of holding them. Postal and online ballots could have been arranged.

Brexit has been quietly sidelined, one nation conservatism fanboys and fangirls are attacking any one that dares to suggest Boris will back track on his pledge to "get Brexit done", because "the rules" say he has already got it done, when in fact, he hasn't.

We never really had any rights to begin with, parliament is sovereign, we have no constitution, we are serfs, not citizens. Parliament is pretty much seeing to it that we have no rights at all.

Covid 19 could not have come at a better time for our political establishment! The questioning of how government and democracy is done here just keeps growing, the call to leave the EU refused to go away, now people are in greater numbers questioning the very existence of Westminster government. Boris can just sweep all that away now.

My personal opinion, yes Donald is an idiot. There has been little to no federal guidance. Trump initially called the virus a hoax. Once the evidence was undeniable the virus was real Trump began to take it more seriously.

The governor's of individual states are very much in control. Currently 15 of 50 states are under strict lockdowns similar to what being proposed in the UK . That number is most likely going to rise.

Are states able to implement border controls in and out?

No restrictions yet on interstate travel. But in the designated " Stay at home " areas the police have the authority now to ask why you are out. I'm considered an essential employee, my company issued me a letter to show the cops that I'm allowed to go to work

Boris apparently has been admitted to hospital.
