For centuries the dove has been a symbol of love, hope and peace.
Today, I'm going to west Texas and murder 15 of the little bastards!

Where I originally come from we prefer our game birds with more meat on them than doves/pigeons! Give me a nice ruff grouse or a pheasant thank you very much.

Crotch_Ripper 09-01-2016 06:17 PM

Wild Turkeys here :)

Shoot the birds then have the drink (neat) LOL

HRH1948 09-01-2016 08:32 PM

It's 7:15 PM and I've got my limit and I'm back home| It took 13 minutes of semi-serious shooting. Yes, the larger birds provide more meat, but doves prepared properly are better than prime beef cuts! The enemy is blood. As soon as you shoot the bird, rip off its head and let it drain out. Dress out the breast and remove all shot and put it into salted ice water as soon as possible.

"Dress out", means that you take a sharp filet knife on each side of the breast bone. You wash the cut and insert a fresh jalapeno slice and a bit of purple onion. After you wrap the prepared breast with a piece of premium smoked bacon, you gently smoke your product until it is perfect!

Better than prime cut beef!

Mama bear loves it. Preparations will be complete tomorrow and I'll get laid like a king tomorrow night. Life is fleeting but it can be very good!

When I was a kid we sometimes went out and shot pidgeons and doves, if there was nothing bigger in range. Like HRH said, draining the blood is important. I remember pidgeon meat being very tough, dove more tender. Either way, a lot of work for a small amount of meat.

HRH1948 09-01-2016 09:12 PM

Damn. I wish that batffink could have gone on at least one hunt with me!

I think that we would have both enjoyed it very much! Damn, I miss him!

Fucking Rotter is such a dip shit that it's hard to imagine that any sort of perverse alliance ever existed between the two.

But, stranger things regularly happen! Batffink was indeed a renaissance man!

somedude 09-01-2016 10:16 PM

HRH remember that this is Idle Talk and not the Rowdy Room, don't want you to get yourself in trouble!

And continuing the discussion of game birds, I would have to say that the most delicious wild bird in my experience is the Canadian Goose! Dark meat baby :skull-bee

FuckingRotter 09-01-2016 10:38 PM

What the fucking hell has this thread got to do with me at all? I had purposefully avoided posting in it because I am actually concerned for HRHs mental health and didn't want to rile him unnecessarily, and here he goes again blathering on about me. Frankly, I am sick of it. Come on, what the fuck is your problem? Accusing me of lies, back stabbing friends, disclosing information about personal messages that never even happened, disrespecting the revered dead.

Out with it man, either here or in the Rowdy Room, or just wind your fucking neck in and shut the fuck up.

Oh, and Somedude, I am lodging a complaint against HRH1948 for insults out side of the Rowdy Room.

somedude 09-01-2016 11:04 PM

Complaint noted FR and I am issuing an official warning to HRH for those insults.

HRH, keep the insults and the rancor in the Rowdy Room and lets stay cool and civil on the rest of the board! I don't want to have to start handing out warnings and penalties to members who should know better. That goes for everyone! Play nice or you'll get a timeout.

Not really a hunter myself, well at least not of this type of bird :skull-win, but the few times I've had wild duck it was pretty tasty.

For me though, tough to beat a couple of fresh caught trout cooked up stream side with some fried potatoes.

Apology

I would like to apologize not for what I said, but for where I said it.

I've been here too long for such a breech of etiquette. I simply forgot where I was and there is no excuse for that.

I suppose it's akin to venting about Hillary at Sunday morning church services.

Again, I apologize.

There's a major duck fly way over west Texas. Most of the elaborate duck recipes that I've tried consist of some exotic alcohol based sauces that you simmer the duck in for a very long time. Most of the time, I find it better to drink the sauce and throw away the duck.

A couple of decades ago, I tried cutting the duck breasts into 1/2" strips and cooking them in the same manner as liver and onions. Absolutely, superb!

Unfortunately, the only place around here to get trout is at a restaurant and they inevitably taste like thawed out dead fish.

I figured you were drunk and forgot where you were posting :skull-big Your apology is accepted, however, do be sure of where you post such vitriol in the future!

Let's let this thread return to the subject it is intended for and if you want to make exception over HRH's apology, you can copy it into the Rowdy Room where the both of you can have a good go at each other!

I consider this matter settled as long as further insults remain in the Rowdy Room.

tom8517 09-02-2016 05:47 PM

Trout served in a restaurant are almost always farm raised, very bland, wild trout is an entirely different taste. Huge difference. Also stocked hatchery raised fish about the same, pretty tasteless. Wild trout much tougher to catch, but worth the effort

HRH1948 09-03-2016 08:23 AM

For the record:

I've never fished for trout, I've never eaten fresh trout and I haven't had a drink since June 11th.

I regret all three...

Life without drink? Wouldn't be worth living IMHO. :(

FuckingRotter 09-03-2016 05:53 PM

I went for a walk on the moors during the holiday weekend and saw some decrepid old fart in a cowboy hat being chased by ten birds with baseball bats.

Are you sure they weren't cricket bats? I didn't think baseball bats were available over there. ;)
