Why Is Word SODOMY ok & Rape Is Not

Just thought I would make a question & bring up something that has bothered me for a long time.
I search porn alot. There is shitloads out there that uses the word SODOMY like it's a everyday word.
So why is the word rape not used like that?
Whenever I look for a story or even read something that really happened, the word rape is used but not like the word sodomy or sodomize like it is in the porn industry.

why is this?

By definition, sodomy can be consensual. Rape cannot.

In terms of reading about things that actually happened (e.g. news articles?)
1. I doubt you'll be finding a lot of news articles about consensual sodomy. Not the lightest of topics, plus the word has negative connotations from the biblical reference, etc. In some languages/countries, the word actually means bestiality, not anal sex. So lack of universality is another reason.

2. "Rape" is used in news articles that describe criminal acts. Articles, rightfully, rarely go into graphic details about any attack that took place. Statistically, a portion of the attacks must have involved "sodomy" but they get rolled up into the general description of "rape", which is less graphic (though really, most articles call it "Sexual assault" now...at least here in Canada).
In terms of the porn industry:
1. You see a lot of video titles with sodomy? Test search : Sodomy gives me like 1000 results. Rape gives me like 58000. And it's not like there aren't anal sex videos on the web. Searching "anal" would probably make my browser explode from the number of results.

2. Rape stories / Erotica - Somehow, the word just doesn't seem as arousing in a story. I could see someone writing about a rapist threatening someone "I'm going to sodomize you..." or something, but really...there's just more colorful words that fit into that kind of writing. Erotica Language also tends to be cruder and "sodomy" seems almost clinical.
That's what I think. Phew. That was a long post. :skull-coo

My grandfather was a no-nonsense guy with a love for words. I was watching TV with him when I was a kid and saw news story about "a woman who was attacked and sodomized". Out came the dictionary (his favorite book) and he said " It just says sodomy is any abnormal sexual practice, but I don't think that's exactly what they're talking about."

I wanted to confirm his suspicion that she had gotten boned up the butt, but I decided to keep my mouth shut.
